We Help Caregivers offers free support services in northern New York, across Clinton, Essex, Franklin, Hamilton, Warren and Washington Counties.

Also known as We Help Caregivers, this Initiative provides free support services to those caring for people with Alzheimer’s disease and memory disorders in northern New York, across Clinton, Essex, Franklin, Hamilton, Warren and Washington Counties.

There are only two weeks until the Lake George Community Conference hosted by the Alzheimer's Association on November 12 at the Holiday Inn Resort Lake George - Adirondack Area.

Marijo Natale and Mikaela Oliver from ADCSI will present “When the Cup Runs Low: Tools for Managing Stress and Restoring Balance,” offering caregivers practical tools to recognize stress and burnout, restore balance and support your well-being.

Additional speaker sessions will cover the detection and treatment of Alzheimer’s and other dementias, along with effective communication strategies for dementia-related behaviors.

Throwback to our Hamilton County memory café in Indian Lake this summer, which was a canvas painting event with Briana Crossway!

Our memory cafés are a welcoming gathering place for people living with Alzheimer’s or other dementias, along with their caregivers and families. Each month, these events are a space where we share light refreshments, conversation and entertainment in a social, supportive setting.

We offer FREE in-person and virtual memory cafés in six counties in Northern New York, including Clinton, Essex, Franklin, Warren, Washington and Hamilton.

RSVPs are encouraged, but walk-ins are welcome.

When someone you love is living with Alzheimer’s disease, finding trustworthy information can feel overwhelming.

The latest episode of Let’s Not Forget explores how credible information and meaningful support can help families find hope and make informed decisions.

In this episode, Valarie Drown speaks with Dr. David Hoffman, a clinical professor at the University at Albany who also teaches bioethics at Albany Medical College. A longtime public-health leader, Dr. Hoffman previously led major Alzheimer’s disease, chronic-disease prevention and long-term-care initiatives at the New York State Department of Health.

This conversation covers brain health, recognizing misinformation and the importance of caregivers’ stress, sleep and overall well-being.

Meet Deb Pina, an Essex County caregiver who has dedicated nine years to caring for her husband, Frank.

Deb shares how ADCSI has become a community rooted in emotional support, uplifting one another and sharing caregiving resources.

Deb has also grown close to the ADCSI staff who are always there when she may need them. “They know what I’m going through...and they’re able to make me not feel alone," she said.

We’re grateful for caregivers like Deb, whose experiences remind us of the importance of connection, compassion and community. No caregiver should have to navigate their journey alone.

Thank you again to everyone who joined us for last month’s Caregiving Matters Summit!

This year's Summit brought caregivers together for education and practical resources for those who care for people living with Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia at the Valcour Inn & Boathouse.

Thank you to Director of Civil Legal Services Heather Deare West, Esq., and Staff Attorney Andrew Kramer, Esq., of the Rural Law Center of New York for sharing valuable information on legal planning, Medicaid and scam prevention.

We appreciate the participating organizations that shared their expertise and resources: The Alzheimer's Association of Northeastern New York, Adirondack Regional Technology Center - TRAID - SUNY Plattsburgh, Third Age Adult Day Center , Rural Law Center of New York, Mercy Care for the Adirondacks, AARP New York, Cancer Services Program of Northeastern NY.

We are grateful to every attendee, speaker and participating organization for helping strengthen support for caregivers and families in our community!

Sandwich caregivers and their families are invited to enjoy a fun afternoon out at the Strand Center for the Arts on Sunday, October 25 to watch The Addams Family Musical.
