We couldn't be more excited to see Gonzalo serving as the Membership Director for the Downtown Tampa YMCA and Central City YMCA!

Gonzalo's Y journey began right here at the Plant City YMCA as a Summer Camp Counselor and then as a Welcome Center Advisor.

From Summer Camp Counselor to Membership Director!

Gonzalo's YMCA journey began when he was just 15 years old as a Summer Camp Counselor at the Plant City Family YMCA. Over the years, he has served in a variety of roles across Youth Development and Membership, always bringing a passion for helping others and creating welcoming experiences for members and families.

What makes Gonzalo special is his ability to make people feel seen, supported and connected from the moment they walk through our doors. His positive attitude, dedication to our mission and commitment to serving the community have made a lasting impact on so many people along the way.

We're excited to see Gonzalo continue to grow as a leader and can't wait to see the impact he'll make in his new role.

At the Y, character is at the core of everything we do. Throughout Summer Camp, our four core values—Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility—are embedded into our daily activities and curriculum, helping campers grow into confident, compassionate leaders.

We are excited to recognize our Week Two Campers of the Week: Mia and Jacob! 🎉

These campers have demonstrated outstanding character, positive attitudes, and a willingness to encourage and support those around them. We are so proud of the example they set and the joy they bring to camp each day.

Friendship building was the focus today at camp!

Our campers learned valuable skills on how to make new friends, include others, and build positive relationships that help create a welcoming community for everyone. Through fun activities and meaningful discussions, they practiced teamwork, communication, and kindness 🤝😊.

Our Campers also had the opportunity to learn about healthy nutrition with Mrs. Val from Kids Power 🥕🍎, where they discovered the importance of making healthy food choices and how nutritious foods help keep our bodies strong, active, and ready for adventure 💪🏃‍♀️.

It was a day filled with learning, growth, and fun as our campers built friendships, developed healthy habits, and created memories that will last all summer long! 🌟🏕️💙

Today, our Executive Director and Board Chair had the privilege of attending the Soaring Eagle Luncheon, where Gary Pike was recognized for his remarkable dedication and service to our community.

Gary is not only a champion for our community but also a dedicated supporter of the YMCA, generously serving on our Board, leading fundraising efforts, and advocating for our mission. His passion for strengthening our community through service and leadership has made a lasting impact.

Gary embodies the values we strive to instill in our youth—integrity, leadership, service, and a commitment to making a positive difference. Congratulations on this well-deserved honor!

We are also grateful for the important work of Scouting America, Greater Tampa Area Council, whose mission is to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices throughout their lives by instilling the values of the Scout Oath and Scout Law. Together, through strong community partnerships, we can make a lasting impact in the lives of youth in our community.
