We were honored to welcome Rotary International Peace Fellowship recipient Whitney Dodson as our guest speaker on August 6.

Whitney shared insights into her inspiring peacebuilding project and the meaningful impact it will have to those displaced by war torn countries. She thanked The Plano Rotary Club and LB Showalter for the support and recommendation of the club.

As a Rotary Peace Fellow, she joins a distinguished global network of leaders dedicated to promoting peace, conflict resolution, and sustainable development. The Rotary Peace Fellowship is one of Rotary International’s most prestigious scholarships, providing exceptional individuals with advanced academic training and practical experience to become catalysts for positive change around the world.

We also extend our heartfelt congratulations and best wishes as Whitney begins her next chapter at Uppsala University in Sweden, one of the world’s leading institutions for peace and conflict research. Through Uppsala University’s internationally recognized Rotary Peace Center, she will deepen her expertise in peace and conflict studies, leadership, and international collaboration, equipping her to make an even greater impact in advancing peace and understanding across the globe.

We are proud to celebrate Whitney’s accomplishments and look forward to following her journey as she continues to inspire positive change through service and leadership.

PISD Athletic Director Kendall Miller and the head football coaches from Plano ISD’s three high schools was our guests this afternoon to kick off the 2026 Texas high school football season.

This annual event offers football Rotarians an exclusive look at what promises to be another exciting fall on the gridiron. Each coach discussed the strengths of their team, key returning players, offseason development, new faces expected to make an impact, and the challenges that lie ahead in one of the most competitive football regions in Texas.

With traditions of excellence at Plano Senior High, Plano East Senior High, and Plano West Senior High, the upcoming season is expected to feature fierce rivalries, talented athletes, and plenty of Friday night excitement. Kendall Miller also share their excitement on the new improvements to Clark Stadium.

Happy 250th Birthday, America!

Today we celebrate 250 years of freedom, courage, and the enduring American spirit. From the sacrifices of our Founding Fathers to the generations of service members who answered the call to defend liberty, America remains a beacon of hope, opportunity, and resilience.

As we honor this historic milestone, let us never forget that freedom isn’t free. It has been earned through the dedication of brave men and women who stood ready to protect our nation and the values we hold dear.

May we continue to cherish our freedoms, unite as one nation, and leave a stronger America for future generations.

Happy 250th Birthday, America!
God Bless America.

Every summer, specially when it gets over 100°, I make it a point to keep a cooler filled with cold bottles of water in my truck. Whenever I’m out driving and see someone working outside, walking in the heat, or who simply looks like they could use a drink, I offer them a bottle.

It may seem like a small gesture, but dehydration is no joke. I’ve seen firsthand how quickly it can become life-threatening. I had several Marines in my squad go brain dead from dehydration. No one should have to suffer because they didn’t prepare for this heat.

I post reminders like this to get you prepared and also look out for those that are not prepared. Sometimes a quick reminder or post creates an impact and could save someone’s life.

Every community grows stronger when we learn from the past, serve in the present, and work together to create a better future.

As Rotarians, we are guided by the Four-Way Test and a shared commitment to service, friendship, integrity, and goodwill.

No matter where we come from, we can all make a difference when we choose understanding, compassion, and action.
