Boys & Girls Club El Dorado County Western Slope

Boys & Girls Club El Dorado County Western Slope Enabling the youth of El Dorado County to reach their full potential as responsible citizens! The Boys & Girls Clubs of America program was chosen.

Each and every day, we open our doors to the kids of El Dorado County. Each and every day, we provide one-on-one mentoring and education assistance. Each and every day, we provide free, healthy, homemade meals to the kids who attend the Club as well as the kids who don't. Each and every day, we are here for our kids, doing Whatever It Takes to ensure that they have a GREAT Future. Our Clubhouses a

re open for kids year-round with our After School and Summer Camp programs. Our members participate in many Academic Success, Good Character & Citizenship, and Healthy Lifestyles activities! We believe everything done at the Club should foster a sense of belonging, usefulness, influence, and competence. By offering these feelings to our young people through exciting and entertaining programs we help them to become the positive and successful adults each of them has the ability and capacity to become. Programs are offered in the following core areas: The Arts, Sports Fitness and Recreation, Health and Life Skills, Education and Career Development & Character and Leadership Development. Our history:

In 1995, a group of concerned and dedicated people decided something needed to be done for the young people on the western slope of El Dorado County. They wanted a safe place and the best programs available so they searched for the organization with the greatest track record serving children. Boys & Girls Clubs have been serving young people for 140 years and today, over 4,000 Clubs provide youth development programs for over 4 million kids. Communities having Boys & Girls Clubs have found that members have lower school dropout rates, lower juvenile crime rates, higher grades, less gang involvement and less drug, alcohol and to***co use. On June 2, 1999 our local Club began daily programs for kids at the Armory in Placerville. Today we serve over 1500 kids between the ages of 6 and 18 at our three locations on the Western Slope. Our mission is to enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, responsible and caring citizens. We envision a future in which the Boys & Girls Club Movement is a catalyst for a new age in America, an age in which success is within the reach of every child, and whole generations of children are inspired to a level of civic engagement not seen since the founding of our nation.

🌎 Did You Know?

BGCE Summer Camp features a different themed adventure every week, and this week at our Po***ck Pines Clubhouse, we’re celebrating World Cup Week! ⚽

One of our favorite activities? A daily trip around the globe through food. Pictured here is Patatas Bravas from Spain 🇪🇸 — just one of the international snacks our members will be taste-testing this week.

Each day, campers will learn about a new country, explore different cultures, and try a new snack from around the world. It’s a fun (and delicious!) way to build curiosity, spark conversations, and experience something new together.

Where will our taste buds travel next? Stay tuned! 🌍✈️

Our community, our Club, and those that knew her, have all lost a true champion this week with the passing of Maureen Carter. Her vision of what philanthropy could do for the community she called home has transformed what giving looks like in El Dorado County.

Our Club is better because of Maureen. Our County is better because of Maureen. All those that knew her are better because of Maureen. She fought hard over the past year and is now at rest and we ask that you keep Jim, Tiffany, Sarah and all those that loved her, in your prayers, as they navigate the loss of this extraordinary woman.

We take the lessons we learned from Maureen. To be gracious, to be kind, to be generous, to laugh and to love. We take these lessons with us, and we pledge to carry on the work she believed in. To make our community better in whatever way we can. And as we take the baton from her, we are mindful that while this is incredibly sad and that life isn’t fair, she would want us to push forward and to be the best version of ourselves. And push forward we will, albeit with a new limp created by the loss we feel.

"You will lose someone you can’t live without, and your heart will be badly broken, and the bad news is that you never completely get over the loss of your beloved. But this is also the good news. They live forever in your broken heart that doesn’t seal back up. And you come through. It’s like having a broken leg that never heals perfectly—that still hurts when the weather gets cold, but you learn to dance with the limp." – Anne Lamott
