Good afternoon folks! After nearly 25 years of performing on Mane Street, Marshal Paden Blackwell is officially retiring to a quiet life of gardening, dogs and rattlesnakes. I have had a great time but now it is time to pass the torch. The group will continue on without me and provide regular shows from October-May at 1pm on the second and 4th Saturday of those months. Happy trails to all.

THE LAST REAL GUNFIGHT IN JOSHUA TREE NATIONAL PARK: MAY 11 1943, 83 YEARS AGO, " On May 11, 1943, Bill Keys shot and killed Worth Bagley during a confrontation over property disputes near his Desert Queen Ranch in Joshua Tree National Park. Bagley was a worthless ol coot out to kill Keys for his alleged property and easement rights and one day opened fire with his handgun on Keys as he was driving down his own road that keys created with his grader! Keys returned fire with a rifle and hit and killed ol Bagley. Then drove to town to report the incident where he was promptly arrested. (the law was obviously siding with the cattle rancher there who was allegedly the power player in town then...) Keys was later convicted of manslaughter but was pardoned in 1956 after serving part of his sentence" Earl Stanley Gardener was able to get Keys released on multiple technicalities like Bagley's gun suddenly disappearing etc. Gardener later went on to to write the Perry Mason mysteries, if my history serves me right and my spelling is all correct!!??
