The Pine River Area Food Shelf, a program of the Pine River-Backus Family Center, is looking for clean, empty egg cartons!

We regularly repackage eggs to help serve individuals and families throughout our community, and egg cartons are always appreciated.

If you have extra cardboard or foam egg cartons (standard dozen size) that you would like to donate, they can be dropped off at the Family Center - Monday through Friday.

A heartfelt thank you to the family of Mark and Karen Rauenhorst for donating infant blankets to the Pine River-Backus Family Center.

Making and donating these blankets was their grandchildren’s summer service project, and we are grateful for their generosity and caring hearts.

Many people have heard us mention the Justice Bus, but may not know exactly what it is.

The Justice Bus is a mobile legal aid office that travels to rural communities like ours to help connect seniors with free legal information, support, and resources closer to home.

Summer can stretch the grocery budget for many families. If you have school-aged children, there are a few helpful programs available this summer to help with food support. ☀️

Minnesota SUN Bucks provides a one-time $120 food benefit per eligible child to help families buy groceries during the summer months when school is out. Benefits can be used anywhere EBT cards are accepted.

Families can also find free summer meals for kids through local Summer Food

Today we celebrate and honor moms in all the ways that role is lived out and carried every day. Moms, grandmas, stepmoms, foster moms, adoptive moms, birth moms, and all those who love, support, nurture, and care for others.

We also know today can feel hard for many for many different reasons. We want you to know we are thinking of you too and sending extra love and care to those carrying grief, loss, longing, or complicated emotions today.
