North Star Reach provides life-changing, year-round programs (at camp and remotely) for children with serious health challenges and their families, free of charge. Our year-round camp--located on 105 acres in Pinckney, Michigan—offers children medically-sound, fun-filled experiences that aim to build confidence and foster joy. Our state-of-the-art health center, staffed 24/7 by medical professionals from leading hospitals and medical centers throughout Michigan and the Chicago area, makes these experiences possible, together with incredible volunteers and donors. We are a member of SeriousFun Children’s Network, founded by Paul Newman, one of the world’s largest family of camps and programs for children with serious illnesses.

✨ In Case You Missed It ✨ Help Us Get Camp "To Done" This Fall! 🛠️🍂🫎

The campers may be heading home for the season, but there's still plenty to do at North Star Reach ... and we could use your help!

Join us Friday, November 6 through Sunday, November 8 for our annual Fall Work Weekend, when members of our Campily come together to roll up their sleeves and help care for the 105 acres where so much Mooseness happens throughout the year.

You don't have to be a master carpenter or expert DIYer to join us!

🍂 Happy to rake leaves? We need you.
🧹 Ready to clean or organize? We need you.
🔨 Handy with tools? We definitely need you.
🙌 Willing to lend a hand wherever needed? We need you, too!

Families, volunteers, donors, community groups, and friends are all welcome, with projects available for a variety of ages and abilities.

And Work Weekend isn't all work! After the projects wind down, stick around for good food, fellowship, campfires, and plenty of Campily time.

The answer is ...

🎉 B. Trees stop producing as much chlorophyll, revealing other pigments!

As the days grow shorter and temperatures begin to cool, trees slow their production of chlorophyll ... the pigment that gives leaves their green color.

As chlorophyll breaks down, the beautiful yellows and oranges that were hiding beneath the green begin to shine through! Some trees also produce red and purple pigments, creating the spectacular autumn colors we love. 🍂

And here at North Star Reach, we're lucky to have a front-row seat to Mother Nature's colorful show across our 105-acre camp!

🍂🫎 WELCOME TO CAMP! 💙🏕️

The cabins are ready, the campfires are waiting, and the Mooseness is in the air!

Today, we're excited to welcome 26 families and nearly 28 volunteers to North Star Reach for Family Camp Weekend - Session III (Epilepsy), presented by the Epilepsy Foundation of Michigan!

And this isn't just any Family Camp Weekend ... it's our LARGEST Family Camp Weekend of 2026! 🎉

Over the next few days, families will have the opportunity to step away from their everyday routines and experience the magic of camp together. From arts and crafts and outdoor adventures to campfires, laughter, new friendships, and plenty of Mooseness, this weekend is all about creating memories that will last a lifetime.

For families navigating the challenges of a serious health challenge, weekends like this offer something especially meaningful: the opportunity to connect with others who understand their journeys, share experiences, build friendships, and discover a community where everyone belongs.

At North Star Reach, we believe every child deserves the chance to simply be a kid, and every family deserves opportunities to connect, recharge, and experience joy together.

💙 A special thank you to the Epilepsy Foundation of Michigan for partnering with us to make this incredible weekend possible. We're grateful for your commitment to supporting children and families affected by epilepsy and for helping bring the magic of camp to so many.

This October, we're taking North Star Reach beyond the cabin and beyond the gates of camp with the first of two Camp in the Park! events in Southeast Michigan!

Join us Saturday, October 17, from 11 am–2 pm at Detroit Medical Center – Brush Hall for a FREE, family-centered afternoon featuring some of the fun, friendship, connection, and Mooseness of camp ... closer to home.

If you have a Donor-Advised Fund (DAF), there's still time to help North Star Reach qualify for a potential matching grant through .

Here’s the exciting part: on Thursday, October 8, nonprofits will be selected to receive dollar-for-dollar matching grants of up to $5,000, with two organizations receiving a $25,000 match!

🫎 Welcome to Camp, ACA Michigan! 🏕️💙

Today, we’re excited to welcome fellow camp professionals from across Michigan to North Star Reach as part of the American Camp Association’s Michigan Camp Tours!

This afternoon, camp directors, program professionals, facility teams, emerging leaders, and others from Michigan’s camp community will explore our 105-acre camp, learn more about our barrier-free and medically supported approach to camp, and see firsthand how North Star Reach creates opportunities for children with serious health challenges and their families to belong, thrive, and imagine a hopeful future.

But today is about more than a tour.

One of the best things about the camp community is our willingness to share ideas, learn from one another, ask questions, and celebrate what makes each camp unique. While our programs, facilities, and the communities we serve may look different, we share a belief in something pretty powerful: camp changes lives.

As we celebrate our 10th Anniversary Year of Mooseness, we’re especially excited to open our gates, share a little of what we’ve learned over the past decade, and maybe even send our visitors home with a little Mooseness of their own. 🫎
