Our Recycle Your Bicycle (RYB) season is officially underway, and we’re excited to get to work preparing bicycles for foster youth this holiday season!

RYB gives new and gently used bicycles a second life, turning generous community donations into meaningful gifts for children and teens in foster care.

Want to get involved? There are several ways to help!

Donate a Bike: Have a new or gently used bicycle to donate? We’d love to give it a second life!

Volunteer: Join us on Saturdays to help repair and prepare bicycles for their new owners. No experience is necessary—just a willingness to help!

Provide Lunch: Want to support our hardworking volunteers? We welcome community members and businesses interested in donating lunch for our Saturday workshop teams!

Teenagers need gifts, too! 💙

As we collect gifts for our Toy Drive, one of our biggest needs is gifts for teens. It can be easy to overlook older kids when shopping for holiday donations, but a thoughtful gift can mean just as much to a teenager.

Looking for ideas? Think gift cards, headphones, popular games, self-care items, sports gear, room décor, and other gifts teens will actually enjoy.

We’re getting ready for a special Jacket Event to help make sure foster, adoptive, and kinship children and youth have a warm jacket for the cooler months—and we need your help!

Volunteers will help families shop for jackets, provide assistance throughout the event, and help create a welcoming and positive experience for the families we serve.

Time: 10:00 AM–3:00 PM
Location: Arizona Mills Mall

We would be thrilled to have you and your friends and family join us in serving the children of the foster community.

Sometimes, the smallest acts of service can make the biggest difference.
One of our volunteers recently shared:
“It was good to do some simple service where it was needed. It’s good to know people are helping others; it gives hope to life. I’ve learned more about serving others and grown to be a better person in big and small ways.”
That’s what makes Jose’s Closet and Arizona Association for Foster and Adoptive Parents so special. Every donated item, every hour volunteered, and every family who walks through our doors is part of something bigger—a community choosing to care for one another.

Children in foster care may experience more than one placement before finding permanency. Each transition can bring new challenges for children and the families caring for them.

That’s why supporting the caregivers matters.

At AZAFAP, we work to help foster, kinship, and adoptive families feel supported throughout their journey. Through programs like José’s Closet, Family Support Services, Family Connections, and Recycle Your Bicycle, we help families access basic needs, build connections, find resources, and feel part of a community that understands.

Because when families have the support, resources, and connections they need, they are better equipped to provide children with the stability and care they deserve.

Foster care can be a journey of many transitions. AZAFAP is here to help families navigate it together. 💙

Your Arizona tax dollars can help support children and families in foster care!

AZAFAP is a Qualifying Foster Care Charitable Organization (QFCO), which means your donation may qualify for the Arizona Foster Care Tax Credit. For 2026, individuals may be eligible for a credit of up to $632, or up to $1,262 for couples filing jointly.

We want to take a moment to recognize and thank Tim Hardt for his time and service on the AZAFAP Board of Directors. His support, dedication, and willingness to jump in wherever needed have meant so much to AZAFAP and the families we serve.

While Tim is stepping away from his role on the board, we’re happy to say he isn’t going too far! He’ll still be volunteering and helping out at AZAFAP events, so we’ll continue to see him around.
