Last week, Phoenix Rescue Mission went to the Arizona Capitol to be part of that conversation.

Our Chief Clinical Officer, Ta’Mella Pierce, presented before the Substance Use Disorder Treatment Standards and Oversight Study Committee, sharing what we’ve learned through our Transformations Recovery Program.

The committee is working to develop treatment standards that prioritize quality care, dignity, respect, and measurable outcomes.

Ta’Mella shared how our Christ-centered approach combines clinical treatment for substance use and co-occurring mental health needs with case management and workforce development—helping people address barriers, build stability, and prepare for independent living.

This is the work we believe in every day at the Mission: helping people heal, rebuild their lives, and move toward lasting recovery.

We’re grateful for the opportunity to bring what we’ve learned into a conversation that could help strengthen treatment across Arizona.

Hope has arrived.

Oftentimes, when we think of “hope,” we think about the future — something we hope might happen someday. But what happens when hope becomes reality? What happens when it arrives?

For nearly 75 years, we’ve had the privilege of watching that happen across the Valley.

Daughters got their dads back. Families were reunited. Neighbors found a safe place to sleep. Men and women found freedom from addiction. People who once felt forgotten found a community willing to walk alongside them.

They had the chance to come home.

Hope didn’t remain something they wished for. It became something they experienced. And that same hope continues to arrive today.

On World Homeless Day, we recognize the very real challenges surrounding homelessness and the neighbors across our community who are still waiting for hope to arrive.

And we remember that when we choose to love our neighbor, the impact can reach far beyond today. It can ripple through families, communities, and generations to come.

Hope has arrived. And together, we’ll keep carrying it forward.

We are not defined by our lowest moments. And no matter the pain or struggle someone is facing when they hit the bottom, we believe, with the right support, it does not end there.

Every day, we have the privilege of helping people rebuild their lives — to see what once seemed impossible become possible. To see what once felt broken become whole.

This year, in recognition of World Homeless Day, we’re showing you what happens when hope arrives and how families, futures, and our community are forever changed.

Because everyone deserves a chance to come home.
