We had an awesome time today at Miranda's 4th of july celebration! We want to thank our great friends and mutual aid partners at Miranda Fire Department for creating space for us to come collaborate and represent! We often only see eachother during high stress calls in the most difficult of situations, and it's times like this when we can come together, have fun, and connect with eachother and our incredible community here in southern humboldt that build bonds and and friendships that make the difference. We want to wish everyone a happy, and safe 4th of july holiday, and hope you all enjoy the celebrations and commraderie that make this home we all share special.

Phillipsville VFD was glad to be able to help get this young man reunited with his family. Thank you, Myers Flat VFD.

Today at 6:13 pm Myers Flat Fire recieved a call of a vegetation fire off highway 101 just south of miranda. Thankfully, the fire turned out to be a false alarm. While returning to Myers Flat and passing phillipsville fire, our assistant chief and engineer Ember Sernovitz spotted a 25 year old male who had been reported missing 48 hours ago by his family. Ember had seen his missing persons post on facebook. After notifying humboldt county sheriff's department and receiving a message from a friend of his family to be on the lookout, together with our great friends and mutual aid partners at phillipsville fire, we were able to contact his mother and reunite them all together again! This tough young man had walked all the way from arcata to phillipsville!
It's magical moments like this where just happening to be in the right place at the right time makes awesome things happen. We love being a part of such an amazing community and miracles like this couldn't happen without everyone looking out for eachother.

Please take heed to the road closure signs. In places where the road is closed the river is actually covering the road and rising. It’s not a suggestion it’s a mandate. Stay safe!

Rising water and storm damage has cut off communities, closed highways, and brought another flood warning to Southern Humboldt.
