Four-time Taste of Success winner. Now featured on FOX 29!

We're celebrating Entrepreneur Works client Nefertari Muhammad, owner of Sister's Original Supreme Pies, who was recently featured on FOX 29's Buying Black!

If you've been part of the Entrepreneur Works community for a while, you might remember Nefertari from our Taste of Success competition, where she took home the win FOUR times! 🏆

Taste of Success brought together local food entrepreneurs to showcase their culinary talents, connect with the community, and compete for top honors.

Seeing Nefertari continue to make her mark is a sweet reminder of the incredible talent in Philadelphia's small business community.

Growing Styled by a Goddess means making more room for education. My plan is to offer two classes each month: a beginner class at $250 and a luxury extension class at $600.

With 6–8 students in each class, that could bring in $5,100–$6,800 a month, or $61,200–$81,600 a year before expenses, in addition to our salon services.

If awarded the $10,000 grant, here’s how I would put it to work:

• $3,000 for reusable equipment, training tools, videos, and class materials.
• $2,000 to update our website so students can book, pay, order supplies, and review lessons after class.
• $2,000 for advertising to reach new graduates and stylists looking to sharpen their skills.
• $3,000 toward a part-time marketing manager to help promote classes, track enrollment, and keep everything organized.

I’ve already seen what hands-on training can do for someone. Now I want to build a consistent program that helps more stylists grow, brings another source of income into the salon, and allows me to spend more time teaching.

Today is the final day to apply for the 2026 Growth & Sustainability Pitch Competition, powered by Citizens!

One small business will take home a $10,000 first-place cash grant, but the opportunity goes beyond the prize. Entrepreneurs who advance will also receive support designed to help strengthen how they communicate and pitch their businesses, including:

✔️ Communicate Your Business, a required workshop led by Citizens
✔️ One-on-one coaching from Citizens for the Top 5 finalists to prepare for the live pitch
✔️ Pitch preparation and support from Entrepreneur Works
✔️ An opportunity to showcase your business through the public voting round
✔️ A chance to pitch live in front of judges, business leaders, and community partners

The competition is open to eligible small businesses in Philadelphia and Delaware County, and we especially encourage Delaware County and Chester entrepreneurs to take advantage of this opportunity.
