It's no secret that 2025 has been spent navigating uncertainty. As the whole nonprofit sector faces public funding challenges and changes, ECA is no exception.

We started the year working our way through the barrage of Executive Orders that undermined our work and painted it as expendable. But ECA has been championing energy efficiency and utility support for our most vulnerable residents for over 40 years, and we're not going anywhere.

Now we end our year on a high note, having been chosen as the lead administrator for the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) for the entire State of Delaware. This winter, we will help around 11,000 of the at-risk residents pay their heating bills through energy assistance grants and emergency repair support. Our Delaware team couldn’t be more proud!

The 2025 Energy Conference: Community, Climate, and Energy Resilience is less than two weeks away!

🔦Spotlight on our Speakers🔦
Stemming from the theme of the day’s discussion on community and resilience, we will have two honored presenters:

⭐Keynote Speaker: Charles Lanier
Since 2013, Mr. Lanier has served as the Executive Director of Hunting Park NAC, one of ECA's Neighborhood Energy Centers. His remarks will touch on the challenges faced by both Philadelphia communities and the dedicated organizations and leaders that serve them.

⭐Guest Speaker: Christina Spadaro
Christina joined the team at the Pennsylvania Association of Nonprofit Organizations (PANO) in 2017 as the Director of Learning & Education, moving into the role of Assistant Director in 2023. As such, she is deeply familiar with the state of nonprofits across PA - how nonprofits are impacted by the decisions made at the federal level and how they’re overcoming obstacles to continue to carry out their missions.

ECA's Community Programs team had a positively eventful summer. We've partnered to organize community events and contributed energy resources, supported expectant mothers and senior to lower their utility bills, and worked with elected officials. ECA's presence across the city has been growing significantly! We made it out to over 30 events in the last few months, allowing us to engage thousands of Philadelphians on home energy efficiency and opportunities to reduce energy burden.

"My goal is to raise awareness and increase resource utilization for the income eligible and underserved citizens in our city. People don't reach out for services that they don't know exist. That includes service providers, block captain's families and educators to name a few." - Sandra, ECA's Community Engagement Specialist
