Thank you to everyone who shared your kind words about Carlo's passing. To honor him, we wish to honor the good work of others.

Here is the lineup for Week 4 of our Joyful Dinner series:

🍽️ MAY 25–31: Roswell, GA | , a Michelin Bib Gourmand recognized restaurant, is dedicating a special dish all week long to Georgia-grown Vidalia onions. Seven days of celebrating one iconic ingredient.

🍽️ MAY 26: Philadelphia, PA | , Philadelphia's iconic fine dining destination, is weaving the stories of their producers into a select number of dishes β€” because knowing where your food comes from makes it taste even better.

🍽️ MAY 29: Atlanta, GA | , a cornerstone of Atlanta's culinary scene, is offering a special four-course market menu rooted in what's fresh and in season right now.

🍽️ MAY 29: New York, NY | Slow Food NYC and Studio Bumi invite you to an evening of seasonal cooking and good company around a shared table. A multi-course communal dinner spotlighting Snail of Approval awardees and the producers behind them.

🍽️ MAY 31: St. Louis, MO | Kakao Chocolate is hosting a welcome dinner for anyone curious about the relaunch of Slow Food St. Louis.

✨ These dinners are beautiful, and there's still room for yours. You don't need a restaurant or a big event. Just a table, good food, and people you care about. Host at home, in your backyard, or at a favorite spot, and put your table on the map alongside all of these.

πŸ‘‰ Register your Joyful Dinner and help spread joy across the country. Registration closes May 31. Link in bio.

This Tuesday, May 26, 8 PM EST, the Slow Food USA community will dedicate our National Roundtable Call to honor the life and legacy of Carlo Petrini, the visionary who believed that food is always, above all, a way to build belonging.

He founded a movement and built a community rooted in dignity, joy, and shared purpose, one that today touches millions of lives across every corner of the planet.

We invite you to gather with us as we come together to celebrate him the way he would have wanted: united, at the table, holding close the values he believed in, and looking toward the future he envisioned.

Yesterday, in the town of Bra (Italy), Carlo Petrini passed away at the age of 76.

A visionary leader and public intellectual with a profound commitment to the common good, human relationships, and the natural world, Carlo Petrini founded Slow Food, the international Terra Madre gathering, and the University of Gastronomic Sciences in Pollenzo. Through these initiatives, he brought to life a global movement rooted in the values of good, clean, and fair food for all, connecting communities, farmers, food artisans, cooks, activists, and young people across the world.

β€œThose who sow utopia reap reality” - a phrase Carlo Petrini loved to say - encapsulates his life. He firmly believed that dreams and visions, when they are just, capable of inspiring collective participation, and pursued with conviction, are not impossible to achieve.
He combined the ability to dream with a deep sense of joy and collective purpose, paving concrete paths toward social change. His work was always rooted in collaboration with others, especially younger generations, and guided by passion, empathy, and fraternity.

His energy, his determination, and his lifelong dedication to others will remain a guiding force for the entire Slow Food movement and for all those who shared his vision.

Chapter Spotlight: Slow Food South Willamette has officially launched in Eugene. 🌱

Founded by food writer Vanessa Salvia, the chapter is bringing fresh energy to Slow Food's mission: ensuring good, clean, and fair food for all.

With plans for farm tours, tastings, community gatherings, and educational events, Slow Food South Willamette is creating space for people to reconnect with where their food comes from and who makes it possible.

Upcoming events to check out:
🌱 May 23: Fundraiser Event | Crow & Cart will donate 50% of the day's proceeds to Slow Food South Willamette from 11:30 am to midnight.

🌱 May 24: Cookbook Swap | Swap your pre-loved cookbooks and swap them for some new ones that inspire new recipes! The chapter will provide mimosas and finger food, and you'll go home with some new books for only $10.

It’s a reminder that meaningful change often starts at the community level, one meal, one farmer, and one conversation at a time.

Last March, Slow Food Prescott hosted "Seed Mania 2026," a vibrant celebration of local food systems and biodiversity. Held at the Prescott College Crossroads Center, this free community event brought together over 20 local partners to share more than just seeds; they shared knowledge.

From hands-on workshops and family activities to a communal meal, the day was a beautiful reminder of what happens when we prioritize health from the ground up.

Saving seeds isn't just about next year’s harvest; it’s also about preserving our heritage and ensuring food sovereignty for everyone in our community.

From tiny seeds, big communities grow. 🌱 If you want to join the movement for good, clean, and fair food for all, visit slowfoodusa.org to find a chapter in your community.
