✨ Celebrando mis raíces en el Mes de la Herencia Hispana/Latina ✨

Soy Elzy Muñoz, subdirectora de la Escuela Superior en Pan American Academy. Mi historia aquí empezó en 2011 como maestra de 4.º grado, y tras más de una década en el aula, ahora tengo el privilegio de apoyar a estudiantes y maestros en su crecimiento.

Nací en Lima, Perú 🇵🇪 y aunque crecí en Delaware, mi familia me enseñó a nunca perder la conexión con mis raíces. Crecí bailando la Marinera y danzas afroperuanas, tradiciones que guardo con muchísimo orgullo.

No siempre sentí la fuerza de este mes, pero en la universidad descubrí lo valioso que es unirnos, celebrarnos y compartir nuestras culturas. Hoy me llena el corazón continuar ese camino con mi comunidad educativa.

In honor of Hispanic Heritage Month, we present the second Thursday Tale With the Fire on High by Elizabeth Acevedo.

It is an inspiring novel about Emoni Santiago, a half-Puerto Rican, half-African American Philadelphian high school senior and teen mom, who dreams of becoming a chef after she graduates high school. Readers will understand the importance of respect, courage, perseverance, and teamwork. They’ll also learn about food safety and how to work in a kitchen, as well as about Spanish, Puerto Rican, and African American culture and history.

✨ Mes de la Herencia Hispana ✨

Mi nombre es Claudia Pérez Fortune . Mi familia es originaria de Guatemala, crecí en Nueva York y hace muchos años llegué a Filadelfia para la universidad… ¡donde me quedé para enseñar! Este es mi año número 24 en la educación.
Para mí, este mes es una celebración de nuestra cultura, historias y la fuerza de nuestras familias. Una de mis tradiciones favoritas es reunirme con mi familia para compartir comida, risas e historias que nos conectan a través de generaciones.

Me siento muy orgullosa del valor de la perseverancia , que me recuerda seguir adelante incluso en los momentos difíciles. Ese valor lo comparto con mis estudiantes y con mi hijo, para que siempre lleve con orgullo sus raíces. 🌺 🇬🇹

¡Feliz Mes de la Herencia Hispana!

Soy Lina María Vargas, orgullosamente colombiana. Nací en Buga, Valle del Cauca, y mi camino me llevó a Manizales, donde me gradué como Licenciada en Educación Especial. Hoy, desde este país que me abrió sus puertas, tengo la fortuna de aportar a la comunidad educativa y seguir creciendo cada día.

Este mes es muy especial porque nos recuerda el poder de la comunidad hispana, nuestra diversidad cultural, y la importancia de enseñar a las nuevas generaciones a sentir orgullo por sus raíces.
