🌟 Meet Our Summer 2026 Executive Fellow! 🌟

The Focus Initiative is excited to welcome Gequandra Moore as our Summer 2026 Executive Fellow!

Gequandra has been a dedicated member of The Focus Initiative since 2023 and proudly serves as a member of our FOCUS Barbour-Bullock County Chapter. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Animal and Veterinary Sciences from Tuskegee University and will soon begin pursuing her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine at the same institution.

Throughout her time with The Focus Initiative, Gequandra has demonstrated a heart for service, leadership, and community engagement. We are excited to have her join our team this summer as she continues to grow professionally while helping advance our mission of impacting communities and empowering the next generation.

✨ Fun Fact: Gequandra loves making memories and enjoys traveling with the people she cares about most.

✨ : There’s nothing better than investing in the next generation of leaders.

While in the area, our Founder & Executive Director, Jamorrey Gosha , made a surprise visit to the Summer Leadership Institute and joined our student leaders for a special Lunch & Leadership Chat.

Students had the opportunity to ask questions, share their goals, and learn from his experiences in ministry, nonprofit leadership, and community engagement.

Experiences like these are part of what makes SLI unique. Through meaningful conversations and hands-on mentorship, students gain valuable insight, encouragement, and leadership skills that will serve them well beyond the program.

The future is in good hands, and we are proud of the growth and potential our students continue to demonstrate each week.

A huge thank you to Mt Mariah Baptist Church for inviting The Focus Initiative to be a part of your Youth Day celebration! We truly enjoyed ourselves and loved being able to pour into the youth and celebrate alongside so many amazing people. 💛

We were blessed to celebrate with Mount Olive Baptist Church, Greater Bethelpore Missionary Baptist Church and many others who came together for a day filled with joy, fellowship, and community. 🙌🏽

🌟 SLI 2026: Week One Complete! What an incredible start to the 2026 Student Leadership Institute!

Last week, our students officially began their leadership journey by coming together for orientation, team building, leadership development, and meaningful conversations about what it means to lead with purpose, integrity, and service.

Throughout the week, students:
✅ Connected with fellow student leaders from across the region
✅ Learned about the mission and vision of The Focus Initiative
✅ Explored the foundations of effective leadership and professionalism
✅ Participated in engaging discussions and leadership activities
✅ Began developing ideas for their Capstone Leadership Projects
✅ Reflected on how faith, character, and service shape impactful leaders

We were inspired by the energy, passion, and potential that each student brought into the room. The future is bright, and this cohort is already demonstrating the qualities of servant leadership that our communities need.

Over the next several weeks, these young leaders will continue growing through leadership instruction, community engagement, professional development, mentorship, and hands-on learning experiences designed to equip them to make a lasting impact.
