$5.8 MILLION. TWO SCHOOL DISTRICTS. ONE BALLOT ISSUE.

On November 3, Russell County and Phenix City residents will vote on a school tax renewal.

If the renewal fails, the two school districts could lose approximately $5.8 million in annual funding.

That's money lost for the schools educating our community's next generation.

Know what's on the ballot. Know what's at stake.

Election Day: November 3, 2026. Vote FOR the school tax renewal.

What happens in Vegas… apparently ends up on our camera roll. ⛳

Our East Alabama Chamber Golf Classic: Vegas Edition was one for the books!
144 golfers, 18 holes, poker chips, some VERY creative hole sponsors, plenty of friendly competition, great food and a whole lot of fun made for a pretty great Friday on the course.

But our Golf Classic is about more than golf. It’s a day for our members to get out of the office, make new connections, strengthen relationships and just have a good time together — and judging by these photos, we understood the assignment. 😎

Thank you to every golfer, sponsor, volunteer and partner who helped make the day happen. We’re already taking notes for next year!
🎲♠️⛳ Until next time, Vegas!

We couldn’t have pulled this one off without our sponsors! ⛳️

Our Vegas-themed East Alabama Chamber Golf Classic was a BIG day, and so many businesses and community partners helped make it happen.

A huge thank you to our Eagle Sponsors for investing in this event and supporting the work of the Chamber. 👏

Pepsi
Alabama Power
Russell County Sheriff's Office
BEAM Broadband
City Door
Books Funeral

And a special thank you to ALL of our hole sponsors who showed up, set up, brought the games, giveaways, snacks and FUN! You turned 18 holes of golf into an experience for our players—and we appreciate the effort you put into it.

We also want to thank and for their generous donations. Finally, to our friends who helped keep 144 golfers, sponsors and volunteers fed throughout the day:

🥪 Firehouse Subs
🍔 Culver’s
🥤 Hobo Pantry
🐔 Chick-fil-A

It takes a LOT of people and businesses to make an event this size happen, and we're incredibly grateful for a community that continues to show up for the Chamber.

Thank you for helping us make this year's Golf Classic one to remember! 🎲♥️♣️♦️♠️

Career exploration looks a little different when you get OUT of the classroom. 👏🎓

Our September Young Leaders of East Alabama Career Focus Day was all about giving students a firsthand look at careers, workplaces and the skills that will help them succeed wherever they go.

Our Young Leaders:
✨ Worked on resumes and put their skills to the test with mock interviews at Goodwill
🏢 Got a look inside the corporate world at Synovus
🎤 Heard real-world career advice from an awesome panel of young professionals
📺 Went behind the scenes at WTVM to learn about careers in media, marketing and broadcasting
🤝 And spent the day asking questions, making connections and thinking a little more about what their own futures could look like!

A HUGE thank you to our panelists:
Mac Hill — Columbus River Dragons
Chelsea Arrington Brown — Business with Purpose
Caroline Pippins — Vectorply
Evan Griner — DonutNV

And thank you to Synovus and our board Member Will Thompson for sponsoring our lunch, and our friend and member Business with Purpose Chelsea Arrington Brown for keeping our crew fueled with snacks!
Thank you to Synovus, Goodwill Southern Rivers, and WTVM for allowing us to visit. You guys were the BEST! Thank you to Russell County Extension for the ice breaker game first thing in the morning, and finally a thank you to Brian Fitzpatrick for the Digital Footprint Leadership Lesson!

Days like this are exactly what YLEA is about: exposing students to opportunities, connecting them with community leaders and helping them discover where their own talents might take them. 💙
