🔥 Cottonwood Fire Evening Update – Utah 🔥
📍 Piute & Beaver Counties

🌲 71,841+ Acres | ⚠️ 0% Contained

Fire activity remained intense today on both sides of the Cottonwood Fire.

🔥 On the west side, extreme fire behavior in Baker Canyon produced a large smoke column and rapid uphill fire runs. As a precaution, the North Creek community was briefly placed into SET status before being lowered back to READY later in the day. Firefighters spent the afternoon and evening establishing firebreaks to help slow the fire's spread.

🌄 On the east side, crews continued constructing and strengthening fire lines above Cottonwood Canyon, with work expected to continue throughout the night.

🌫️ Smoke from today's activity significantly impacted areas around Marysvale as southwest winds carried the smoke across the region.

🏠 Evacuation Centers
For residents displaced by the fire, evacuation centers are available in Beaver at:
• National Guard Armory
• Beaver High School
• Beaver City Hall

⚠️ Red Flag conditions remain in effect through tonight and into tomorrow. Please avoid any activities that could ignite a wildfire and follow all local fire restrictions.

As the Cottonwood Fire continues to burn, officials have updated evacuation statuses for several communities.

🔴 GO – Level 3 (Evacuate Now)
Residents in these areas should leave immediately:

• Merchant Valley
• Eagle Point
• Arrowhead Summer Homes
• Surrounding areas

🔥 Cottonwood Fire Update – Utah 🔥
📍 East of Beaver | Baker Canyon / North Fork Area
🌲 Fire activity increasing due to wind & low humidity

As expected, today’s dry winds and low humidity have led to an uptick in fire behavior across the Cottonwood Fire area.

🟡 Evacuation Update – North Creek:
Out of an abundance of caution, the Beaver County Sheriff’s Office has placed North Creek into Set status. This means residents should be prepared to leave quickly if conditions change and the area moves to Go.

👨‍🚒 West Side (East of Beaver):
Fire activity has increased southeast of North Fork, where multiple air resources are actively working the area. Ground crews are improving contingency lines to the north as the fire remains active in Baker Canyon and continues pushing northeast toward Johnson Peak.

We’ve added the latest PyreCast Fire Progression Model to support situational awareness.
• Purple areas represent predicted potential fire spread
• Blue lines show the current fire perimeter
These models provide near‑real‑time projections of likely fire growth, but they are guidance only — not definitive predictions of fire behavior.

🆕 Update:
The towns of Marysvale, Junction, and Circleville have also been placed in 🟢 READY status.

⚠️ Evacuation Status Update

The North Creek area has been placed in 🟢 READY status out of an abundance of caution by the Complex Incident Management Team.

READY status means a wildfire is active nearby, and conditions could change quickly. While an evacuation has not been ordered, now is the time to prepare in case conditions worsen.

Be sure to:
🎒 Pack a go-kit with essentials
💊 Gather medications and important documents
🐶 Prepare your family, pets, and livestock
🚗 Keep your vehicle fueled and ready to leave if needed

If you feel unsafe at any time, you do not have to wait for an evacuation order—you may choose to leave early.

🔥 Cottonwood Fire Update – Utah 🔥

The Cottonwood Fire has grown to 71,841 acres, with more than 650 firefighters and support personnel continuing suppression efforts across the incident.

👨‍🚒 Yesterday, crews made progress constructing and strengthening firelines near Andersen Meadows, Thompson Ridge, North Creek, and Marysvale. Firefighters also continued structure protection efforts and improved existing roads and dozer lines to aid containment operations.

⚠️ Today's biggest concern is the weather. A Particularly Dangerous Situation (PDS) Red Flag Warning is in effect through tomorrow, with sustained winds of 25–35 mph, gusts up to 45 mph, and very low humidity. These conditions could lead to rapid fire growth and extreme fire behavior, and may temporarily limit both ground and aerial firefighting operations.

🌫️ Smoke is expected to increase as fire activity intensifies. Residents in Marysvale, Richfield, and surrounding communities should be prepared for periods of unhealthy air quality.

🚧 Fishlake National Forest closures remain in effect. Please respect all closures and avoid active fire areas to allow firefighters to work safely.

We're sharing photos from last night's powerful storms across the Oklahoma Panhandle, where severe thunderstorms produced large tornadoes, destructive hail, damaging straight-line winds, and incredible lightning displays.

While these images capture the raw power of Mother Nature, they also serve as a reminder of how quickly severe weather can develop and threaten lives, homes, farms, and businesses.

🔥 Iron Fire Morning Update – Utah 🔥
📍 Juab & Tooele Counties

🌲 40,614 Acres | ✅ 27% Contained

Firefighters continue making steady progress on the Iron Fire, with containment increasing to 27%. Nearly 680 personnel, along with crews, helicopters, engines, and heavy equipment, remain assigned to the incident.

👨‍🚒 Yesterday, firefighters not only continued suppression efforts on the Iron Fire but also responded to several new wildfire starts in the area. Today, crews will focus on securing the fire's northern edge, strengthening containment lines, and remaining ready to respond to any additional fire starts.

🏘️ Evacuation & Road Updates
🟡 The City of Eureka remains in SET status, allowing residents to return while staying prepared to evacuate if conditions change.
🔴 GO status remains in effect for Chimney Rock Pass and surrounding areas.
🚗 U.S. Highway 6 between Elberta and Eureka is scheduled to reopen today at 12:00 p.m., though motorists should continue to use caution around firefighting operations.

⚠️ Fire behavior remains active, with the potential for spot fires up to a half-mile ahead of the main fire. Fire crews continue adapting to changing weather and fire conditions.

🌪️ Oklahoma Panhandle Tornado Activity — Evening Update

We’re keeping an eye on the severe weather in the Oklahoma Panhandle tonight. Multiple storm chasers and the National Weather Service have confirmed tornado activity near Slapout in Beaver County, with at least two touchdowns captured on video earlier this evening.
The NWS in Amarillo issued a Tornado Warning for a storm capable of producing a tornado southwest of Slapout, along with reports of tennis‑ball‑size hail and strong rotation. Additional severe thunderstorm warnings were issued throughout the afternoon as storms tracked across the region.
While some posts online are mentioning higher numbers of tornadoes, official sources have not confirmed five touchdowns at this time. We’ll continue to follow updates from NWS Amarillo and local emergency management as new information comes in.
