Vocalizers Toastmasters proudly hosted the Area 23 Humorous Speech Contest on March 19 at Life Changing Christian Center in Pelham, AL. Congratulations to our winners, Beth Tucker and Jarvis Davis, who will advance to the Division B Contest on Saturday, April 4, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at UAB Bevill Hall. At our most recent Vocalizers meeting, two awards were presented. The first was the “Select Distinguished Club” ribbon, which will soon be added to our club banner. The second was the “District Toastmaster of the Year” award, presented to Randy Cooper in recognition of his outstanding dedication and contributions to Toastmasters. Congratulations, Randy! In August, Toastmasters from across the globe came together in Philadelphia, PA, for the 2025 annual business meeting, where they elected new officers among many other activities. Vocalizers member Dr. Gaytan Glover, DTM, was among the attendees. He took the opportunity to explore the historic city and visit the iconic Liberty Bell.

Vocalizers had six members attend the recent Summer Toastmasters Leadership Institute (TLI), where club officers gained valuable insights into their roles and learned effective strategies to better support and motivate their members. This bi-yearly event is open to all members, not just officers.
