Here's a "taste" of our Culinary Arts class young ones making dumplings! 😋

It's fantastic to see our new daytime culinary arts class bring amazing focused young people to learn life skills and healthy habits! We are fortunate to partner with Heartland Charter Schools for this daytime program for our community's youth. It warms our hearts, and builds extraordinary confidence in our youth, not to mention delicious raviolis from scratch!

Marking a historic milestone for the organization, the Paso Robles Youth Arts Center will debut its very first daytime homeschool class in its state-of-the-art JUSTIN Culinary Arts Teaching Kitchen! This program introduces a brand-new daytime avenue for homeschooling families to fulfill elective criteria, complementing the center’s core artistic disciplines: Art, Dance, Music, and Theatre.

As a new educational service vendor for Heartland Charter School, a state-approved partnership opens the door for local homeschooling families enrolled with Heartland to seamlessly utilize their instructional planning funds for daytime enrichment classes at the center! MOVE IN DAY!! Huge thanks to ZURN in Paso Robles! The extraordinary support of the ZURN volunteers made a heavy task as light as possible. Our Paso Robles Youth Arts Center was bustling! Boxes and desks and computers, Oh My! Our newly remodeled spaces, bathroom, front door, team and more are ready for the influx of hundreds of youth on Monday! Clean, safe, supportive and joyful - our youth deserve this!

PASO ROBLES YOUTH ARTS INTRODUCES TWO BILINGUAL CLASSES!
As always, our after-school classes are just $15 for the full 8-week session! Enroll now, these two dance classes are open!
BAILE FOLKLÓRICO – The unique and diverse rhythms of the Mexican state of Oaxaca are celebrated in this class, offering students the opportunity to learn about the eight regions of Oaxaca (Central Valleys, Isthmus, Sierra Norte, Sierra Sur, Coast, Cañada, Papaloapan, and Mixteca).
Ages: 5–9 Mondays: 3:30–4:30 p.m.

LATIN FUSION – Children will have the opportunity to learn about intercultural artistic expressions originating in Latin America through the exploration and practice of dance. The Latin Fusion style combines rhythms such as salsa, cumbia, bachata, merengue, afrobeat, and many more. This class introduces basic steps from each style, dynamic sequences and choreography, and fun dance games.
Ages: 10+ Mondays 4:30–5:30 p.m.

We were there for the kids! The Heartland Charter School South SLO County Back to School Event is a free park day and vendor gathering allowed local homeschooling families to connect with community partners and educational vendors.

"We had a great time sharing information about Paso Robles Youth Arts and the culinary classes we offer through Heartland. We are now a vendor for Heartland Charter School!

For our booth activity, we had a fun heart mosaic craft! Each child colored in a small square from our heart design, and together created one beautiful mosaic heart. That's our amazing Executive Director, Barby Wunsch, in the middle with Christine Dawson, CEO of The Community Foundation San Luis Obispo and Gene Runkle from the PRYA board! Our remodel and youth enrollment for the next arts classes have us all giddy! Thank you Christine for visiting PRYA and sharing the magic we do after school for more than 650 children every year. ❤️

There’s nothing quite like getting out into the community and seeing great work in action.

Christine recently visited the Paso Robles Youth Arts , where creativity is opening doors for young people across North County. From art, music, dance, and theatre to culinary arts, the Center gives local youth a place to discover new interests, build confidence, and find connection.

It was inspiring to see the energy behind their work and hear about what’s ahead as they continue creating even more opportunities for young people to learn and grow.

Pardon our dust—the masterpiece is almost ready!

We’re putting the final brushstrokes on our newly remodeled space and wrapping up construction just in time! Get ready to create, explore, and get messy when Session 4 after-school art classes kick off on August 24th for ages 5 to 18! The hard hats are coming off and the art aprons are going on! Our building transformation is nearly complete, and we can’t wait to welcome young artists back!! This art is titled, "Rider on the Storm with Crystal" created by one of our students in 2021!
