Thank you to everyone that Voted!! 🐾💙🐾
🎉Congratulations to Parma Police Crisis K9 - Rosco. 🏆
The winner of Light Ohio Blue 2026 FUR Responders Photo Challenge, Category 2: Police & Sheriff’s Departments in jurisdictions with populations between 50,001 and 100,000. The overwhelming support of the community made this recognition possible. A heartfelt thank you to all!
Born in March 2025, Rosco was donated to the department in April 2025 by Rick Seyler of Silver Bullet K9 Service Ministry, along with his sister, Remi. Rosco’s dedicated handler is Sgt. Matthew Burkhart. Rosco immediately won the hearts of the community. Rosco's visits to schools, community centers, healthcare facilities, city festivals, council and ward meetings, safety fairs, local businesses, and many other community-based programs have been non-stop.
Aside from Rosco bringing smiles and joy to the community, he has benefited so many others by offering comfort to those who have experienced physical and/or emotional trauma, and those with special needs. It is amazing to witness the positive interactions with Rosco. His presence creates a welcoming, relaxed, safe, and enjoyable atmosphere. Rosco consistently excels in his commitment to enhancing his fellow officers, support staff, and the community’s overall well-being.
A special thanks to Sgt. Burkhart for his care, devotion, and commitment in sharing Rosco’s love and fostering a positive community relationship.
Rosco and Sgt. Burkhart have been busy earning certifications in the following:
• Crisis K9/Therapy K9 First Response – Ohio Peace Officer Training Commission
• First Response K9 School - First Response K9
• Advanced Community K9 Training – AKC Community Canine
• K9 Good Citizen Training – Canine Good Citizen
• Urban Canine Good Citizen Training – AKC Urban CGC
Be sure to look for Rosco at a few of the upcoming summer events!
