Parkersburg High School Foundation

Parkersburg High School Foundation The goal of the Foundation is to create an endowment large enough to support a wide variety of projects from the income alone, now and well into the future.

The PHS Foundation was formed in 1988 by a group of private citizens and PHS graduates committed to maintaining the educational and overall excellence of Parkersburg High School. Projects include renovation of classrooms and other facilities, state of the art technology, teacher grants that benefit classroom students, and scholarships for worthy students. The PHS Foundation Permanent Endowment Fun

d is maintained within the Parkersburg Area Community Foundation. Class and individual gifts are accounted for separately but merged for investment and expenditure. Large gifts with designated uses are also held in the Permanent Endowment but are invested and expended separately. The "lifeblood" of the Foundation is the unselfish level of support by citizens and alumni of the Parkersburg Community. To continue our goals, we hope you will help us with a contribution.

We are incredibly grateful to the Parkersburg Area Community Foundation for awarding a $13,000 grant to the Parkersburg High School Foundation's Dwight O. Conner Planetarium Project! 🌟

This funding will help support the addition of a new projector and modern full-dome projection system, bringing us one step closer to restoring and modernizing this treasured educational resource for future generations of students and our community. The Dwight O. Conner Planetarium has inspired curiosity and learning for decades, and this investment will help ensure it continues to do so for years to come.

Thank you to the Parkersburg Area Community Foundation, its donors, and supporters for believing in the power of education and community impact. Together, we're helping the stars shine a little brighter at PHS!

The PHS Science Department made a donation at the Stargazer Level for the PHS Planetarium in memory of Joyce Pitrolo, a dedicated educator whose passion for science and curiosity about the universe inspired generations of students. Fittingly, Joyce was known for her “Stargazer” license plate — a reflection of the enthusiasm and wonder she carried both inside and outside the classroom. Her legacy continues to shine through the lives she impacted and the future students who will benefit from the Planetarium for years to come.
