While Mid-Ohio Valley Climate Action is working to replenish and strengthen our fundraising capabilities for our general fund—providing a stable stream of funding that is not fueled by grants with specific aims but available for discretionary purposes—we would like to encourage you as individuals and organizations to support some phenomenal groups and orgs and their missions as you are able.
Two in particular that I would like to spotlight today, with many more to come as part of our broad, multi-state coalition, are ReImagine Appalachia and Black By God The West Virginian. I mention these two in particular because we unfortunately had and will have to miss out on partnering with them in important ways this month and next, but we want to make sure you do not miss out on supporting these incredible groups and their projects.
Reimagine Appalachia is one of the busiest and most active initiatives, comprised of many supporting partner organizations including ourselves, that I have ever witnessed. Please check them out at reimagineappalachia.org and get involved or offer your support however possible.
Black By God (BBG) is a “community-led news organization that aims to provide a more nuanced portrayal of the Black experience in West Virginia and Appalachia.” Having met and gotten acquainted with BBG’s founder, Crystal Good, and having read and helped share around many of BBG’s editions, I can tell you this organization is something truly special and worthy of your time, though Crystal and BBG speak for themselves and certainly don’t require my endorsement. You can learn more and explore at blackbygod.org.
