Hi all! Jessica Osborn here. I want to apologize for not posting sooner! I really hoped things would clear up more this summer and we could resume meetings; unfortunately, that didn't happen. In the meantime, Brandon lost his job, we had some changes, and now we have moved back to our home state of Alabama. Coach Brian did such an amazing job last year with our chess players. We were lucky to learn from him! And we were so happy to meet all of you! I hope that someone can get this group back going when possible. Good luck to everyone!

We are postponing our next meeting due to health safety concerns. Hopefully this will all blow over and we can hold a mock tournament in April! Our tentative date is April 25

Hello all! I hope that you are having a great weekend! I just found out that this year's Mountaineer Open Chess Tournament is going to be on Saturday, February 29, 2020, at WVU's Mountainlair. They have an unrated section (which is what I suggest for our players new to tournaments) and Bob Greer, the tournament director, says that he has a group of elementary students that have already registered, so I feel like this would be a great first tournament for them. Hello all, I just wanted to take a second to wish everyone a Merry Christmas. I have enjoyed teaching chess again and want to thank Brandon and Jessica Steadman Osborn for everything that they have done to build the club's attendance in just a few short months. I am excited about the potential of this group of kids. 2020 is going to be an amazing year for CSCC. I have had some people express interest in playing in tournaments and I already have ideas that I will be sharing after the first of the year. Finally, I want to say thank you to our original CSCC families in Mason County, WV. Moving home was bittersweet. I love being home, but I miss you all very much. You have set the bar high for future CSCC generations and I am looking forward to meeting the challenge. Best wishes for a safe and happy holiday season to all! -Coach Adams
