Two amazing women who have made such a difference in our community! 🩷🩷

This is a very hard post but long in coming. Whiskers 316 Kitten Rescue will be closing its doors permanently this summer. 🥺🥺We will always do everything we can to save vulnerable cats and kittens but after 10+ years, we are exhausted. And broke. And in our mid to late 50’s.

We are proud to have been able to rescue, spay/neuter & rehome hundreds of cats and kittens. We have trapped, spayed/neutered hundreds of colony cats and even saved a few dogs in the process. In total it’s over 600 animals. Our hope is that one day cats and kittens in Northeast Arkansas have better lives and more people to care for them. We may not have made a difference to the cat overpopulation problems but we hope we made a difference to those little lives that now have homes and people who love them. Thank you for your years of support and love and encouragement! 🩷PLEASE ALWAYS HELP AN ANIMAL IN NEED! 🩷 We would love to have our alumni post pics of them and their Whiskers kitties in the comments.

We will keep you updated on our shut down.

⚠️Needing: Caregiver for Small Colony in Paragould, AR⚠️

After 13 years of managing this specific location, I am looking to pass the torch to a new caregiver. I recently trapped and pulled the last of my original cats to be socialized indoors, but a new group of 5 cats has moved into the territory due to the vacuum effect.👀

As a local TNR resource, I can assist with trapping, provide winter straw, and heavy-duty bowls to get you started. I will help coordinate getting them through a TNR program—you will not be left to handle the medical logistics alone.✅️

I can also help you fundraise to help offset the costs of food. 🤗

If you think this might be something you are interested in, please message me so we can go over the logistics, and I can answer any questions you might have! 🐈❤️

Thanks! Kris

The princess is princessing. 🤗 In true fashion, she hissed when I placed her new bed in her kennel. 🙄 We'll see how well the diffusers help. I got the Optimum for the Bathroom and Multi-cat for the Living Room and Kitchen.

I haven't heard if she will be able to be squeezed in at NEAHS. We may have to take her to see the lovely Dr Laura Dacus in Wynne next weekend. 🩷

Fortunately, I'm not seeing any evidence of an abcess yet. And she's restricted to the kennels for her leg to heal. So its a wait and see. I'll keep you guys updated on the pretty princess! 👑

So, earlier, I had the back scratcher out offering Churus and able to pet Barron's head a few times. She will not go in an inner carrier at all. Someone gave me the idea to place my work shirt in place of that.

Welllll, thats when Barron chose violence. 👀 As you can see, she pulls the camera INTO the kennel, tries to murder it, and pees on my shirt! 🤦🏼‍♀️ Okay, it looks like she spilled her water dish and food on my shirt.

Is there ANYONE who has successfully socialized a 100% feral cat over 10 yrs old? I've gone up to 6 or 7 yrs, but 13 seems to be a different league. I think I've broken my Barron. 😪

And then, I cleared my head, put it out of my mind it was Barron. Trapped in 5 minutes. 🤩 Actually, there was a little more in the thought process. ☺️ But it worked. 🤷🏼‍♀️

She is currently in a 24 hour lights out, fully covered mode. 💘 She did say that she would be accepting gifts of tasty canned food and any all treats tho. 😁🩷

It builds positive reinforcement with every brief interaction I have with her in my home in the beginning. 🐈🏡 🏠

**Update**
Guys, we are so close to getting Barron out of there! I've got a couple of traps in my SUV. I'm waiting to hear back from NEAHS about getting her in with Dr Isbell. 😻

Meanwhile, if you would like to call in a donation to them, it is under Kristen Bishop at 870-932-5185. 📞 ✅️

I'm also trying to find a used tire to get put on my SUV to make the trip down there if need be in the morning. Of course used tires are $65 now. So if anyone local has a used 235 65 17 they would part with cheaper, please reach out to me! OR if someone could give us a ride? 😆😉

I'm running out of daylight at this point with several things still to prepare. I need to pick up some wet food, potty pads, zip ties, treats, trapping foods, things for Barrons room and get it set up, and the list goes on. 🫣 I promise you trapping itself is not cheap! 🙄

If you are able to help with anything, you can reach me directly at 870-573-7692.

I may not be able to check my messages on this page, so if you can send a message to my personal page or call me/text that would be great. 🫶

Thank you to everyone who loves this little princess, as I do! 🩷

💫 I started Operation Izzi several years ago on today's date. Ironically, my last remaining original cat needs our help💫

I went to feed Barron tonight. Another cat, who had a kitten nearby was chasing after my girl. She appears to have a sprained front leg and possible bite wound abscess. I'll need to trap her as soon as possible. 😩🥹

I'll need a lot of help to get her safe. In all honesty, until she's at the vet, it's hard to say what the cost will be. Enough to cover an exam, anesthesia, possible wound cleaning/ debridement if there is a bite wound abscess and long acting antibiotic injection. Maybe around $150, i dont know? I'll need to reach out to NEAHS to see when they can get her in. 🫶

(I had a doctor's appointment in Jonesboro Thursday, and on the way back my tire blew out. I'm driving on a donut right now, so I'll either need a ride or have to get a tire first.) When it rains, it pours. 🌧🤦🏼‍♀️

She'll need a 48-inch XL Dog Kennel, wet food, treats, back scratchers, etc. Ready for her after the Vet visit. 🐈

If you can help in any of those ways, please reach out to me it is much appreciated!!

This is no small endeavor. Again, I've only touched her ONCE over all these years. But yes, it's time to pull her out of that colony. 🩷🤍

Hey friends! 👋 It's been a bit of a long week. Miss Barron was missing for 2 days. I found her night before last injured. 🥺 It appears that she has a sprained right front leg.

For the first time in 12 years, she came out, led me back to where she's hiding out looking back every 5 to 10 ft to make sure I was following her. 🩷 And sure enough the next night after calling for for a few minutes that's where she showed up.

So now I'm faced with trapping her and getting her to the Vet to make sure there's not a bite wound abscess and what else might be going on. It could be anything but she definitely needs to see a Vet and go from there. ✅️

If you would like to donate: Cashapp $Kristenbishop111 or Venmo .

Also still need things for my bathroom/closet because if ever there were a time to try and socialize her, it's now.

Also I was talking to two ladies that were contracted by the school to come in and do some work for a couple weeks. They are involved in Rescue where they are from. 🤩

They're working right by where the colony is. Come to find out there is a single kitten that belongs to one of the cats that comes over to eat. They've seen it once. So ultimately it would be great to be able to trap the kitten and get it out of there!😬

So a lot going on in my mind of things to do. I didn't see Barron earlier but I'm going back out later tonight when it cools off. I'll post a video of her from a couple of nights ago, my precious Barroness. 🩷🤍
