Pro Tip: Before getting into any type of Animal Rescue/TNR. Just go ahead and throw every dollar you have out the window. 📝Flush it, get creative with it. 🤗

(As I sit here in the dark, trying not to run down my phone battery.) My lights were shut off today. So I'm not ignoring anyone on here, I'm conserving. At least it's not super hot outside! 🤗
Anyway, I won't be on here or able to talk via messenger or phone until I am able to figure something out. 🤷🏼‍♀️🤦‍♀️ Think I'll take a nap....

When asked, how are you so lucky when you go out trapping? My answer is usually the same. If the caretaker will follow the instructions and not feed the cats the evening before and the day of the trapping the cats will be hungry. Hungry cats = successful trapping. ✅️

Trust us when we say "Please do not feed". Most of us who help trap are just volunteers and work full/part time jobs. Some even 2 jobs.

If a caretaker feeds prior to us arriving, an hour trapping assignment could take several hours and result in a wasted day with no cats trapped.🥺

It's hard to explain the importance of the 24 hour fast prior to trapping. The caregiver or helper sometimes finds it cruel to with hold food. This kitty had food every time I would return. My only hope was the sardines would over power the fact kitty was full. That didn't happen. 😿

(A firefighter even told me he found a small bag of opened food in the drain. 👀)

I've always been the caregiver and trapper, so I was forced to look at the big picture. Obviously, it's an issue frequently when those roles are 2 different people.

(I do want to thank all of you guys who messaged or called offering any and all help! 🩵)

I debated on sharing this, but hopefully it will be a learning experience.

There were other hurdles that I've already touched on, but when there is a key lack of communication, yall know who suffers. 🐈💔

And lastly, I'm going to get this off my chest.
I'm guessing a few eyes were on me today, yet not offering to help sadly. At one point I got too hot and went to Casey's to get more gas and cool off. I left the trap at location, but disengaged it upon leaving. I came back, decided there was still far too much traffic, grabbed my trap and came home for a bit. 🥵

Those that know me KNOW, I will NEVER leave a "set" trap without my eyes on it for one single minute
When that accusation entered the chat, I had to bow out.

I truly hope this precious kitty gets the help it deserves. But I will not be the one offering any more of my time, money, taking off work, etc to be painted in that light. That's NOT what I have advocated for, for 14 or so years.

Can anyone help me try to get this poor little injured cat out of this storm drain? It's at a dangerous location, and I don't have eyes in the back of my head to watch out for traffic. The drain opens up onto a busy street as yall see. I've got traps and everything loaded up.

Left work early as I had to be available to take possession of the kitty if the fire dept were able to get her. They haven't reached out.

I need HELP. This cat needs HELP. PLEASE.

For any new people to the page, Barron is a 13 yr old 100% feral cat. I've cared for her in her colony her whole life. The rest of her colony died off, leading to other cats moving in and bullying her. She was injured a month and a half ago. I made the decision to trap her and bring her home. 🩷

Mind you, I have never been able to physically touch her. Until tonight!My heart is so full right now! Stay tuned..... 🤍

We understand.
Most people don’t realize what goes into TNVR they just think it should be “free” and that someone else can handle it.

But here’s the truth:
That “free” service you’re asking for?
𝗜𝘁’𝘀 𝗼𝗻𝗹𝘆 𝗳𝗿𝗲𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝘀𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗻𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝗱𝗼𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸.

Every trap, every can of food, every drop of gas costs someone. 𝙏𝙧𝙖𝙥𝙨, 𝙖𝙥𝙥𝙤𝙞𝙣𝙩𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩 𝙛𝙚𝙚𝙨, 𝙘𝙖𝙥𝙨𝙩𝙖𝙧, 𝙙𝙚𝙬𝙤𝙧𝙢𝙚𝙧, 𝙩𝙪𝙣𝙖, 𝙘𝙖𝙩 𝙛𝙤𝙤𝙙, 𝙜𝙖𝙨, 𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙣 𝙥𝙪𝙥𝙥𝙮 𝙥𝙖𝙙𝙨 to line traps none of it appears out of thin air.

Each “free” TNVR job costs hundreds of dollars before we even count the 𝙝𝙤𝙪𝙧𝙨 𝙤𝙛 𝙙𝙧𝙞𝙫𝙞𝙣𝙜, 𝙛𝙚𝙚𝙙𝙞𝙣𝙜, 𝙘𝙡𝙚𝙖𝙣𝙞𝙣𝙜, 𝙩𝙧𝙖𝙥𝙥𝙞𝙣𝙜, 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙧𝙚𝙡𝙚𝙖𝙨𝙞𝙣𝙜.

And behind every “free” service are real people.
Volunteers washing soiled traps in their driveways.
Loading and unloading scared ferals before sunrise.
Skipping dinners and losing sleep to make sure those cats get trapped, fixed, vaccinated, and safely returned.

This isn’t a hobby it’s hard, messy, emotional, draining, real work.

“Free” doesn’t mean easy. It means someone else is paying the price.
Through their time.
Through their gas tank.
Through their weekend.
Through their heart.
