Senior Paws Rescue Senior Paws Rescue is a non-profit organization located in southern Indiana. We provide a refuge for senior dogs (10+ yrs). In 2012 we moved from St.

David and Pam started with a rescue dog, Mullet, in 2001. He was found on a busy road and had heartworms. He has been with us ever since, and has inspired us to adopt more animals. Petersburg, FL to a 50 acre farm in Hardinsburg, IN. Then our awesome friend, Dinah Sanchez, suggested we start a non-profit and sparked the "fire." We decided to focus on senior dogs as they are harder to place. Our animals are NOT up for adoption - we provide a refuge for senior dogs to live out the rest of their lives in comfort. They are provided medical care, food and treats, heartworm prevention, a warm place to sleep (they are all inside dogs), a large outside area to get exercise (3 acres fully fenced), accommodations to meet their special needs (such as ramps) and most important, lots of love! We currently have 14 dogs (although our "limit" is 10!). While we have many other animals on the farm (goats, chickens, pigs, cats), all donations made to Senior Paws Rescues goes strictly to the care of these senior dogs.

Hi everyone, this post is a little unusual for me since I focus on senior dogs, but I met the most delightful couple yesterday while attending a local event. They are focused on providing urgent care for puppies.

They collaborate with rescues and other entities to ensure these puppies get a fair chance at life. Please read their story.

They do amazing work and are now starting their journey to become a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. Please consider following their page!

For years, I’ve had the privilege of serving as one of Proud Pups’ main medical fosters, caring for neonatal, critically ill, and special needs puppies who require a little more than a traditional foster home can provide. If you’ve followed Proud Pups Rescue for a while, you’ve probably seen some of the tiniest, most medically fragile puppies receiving round-the-clock care in my home.

While my little NICU finally has its own identity, my relationship with Proud Pups isn’t changing. We’ll continue working hand in hand, alongside our incredible veterinary teams, to give the rescue’s most vulnerable puppies the specialized care and support they need.

But part of giving this work its own name is creating the opportunity to help even more little lives.

A Little Extra isn’t a rescue. It’s specialized, supportive care that works alongside rescues, responsible breeders, reproductive veterinarians, veterinary professionals, shelters, and families whose puppies need a little extra help.

Not every puppy who comes through my NICU is a rescue puppy, and receiving care through ALE doesn’t mean a puppy has been surrendered. Puppies remain under the ownership and responsibility of their respective owners or organizations unless a separate arrangement is made.

But when circumstances call for rescue, adoption placement, or lifelong sanctuary, Proud Pups will continue to be a valued partner in helping find the right path forward.

I’m incredibly grateful for the relationship we’ve built over the years and for the opportunity to continue growing alongside a rescue that has been such an important part of my journey.

This isn’t a new beginning so much as a continuation of something that’s been building for a very long time. Just with a little more room to grow, a few more resources, and the opportunity to reach more puppies who need this level of care.

Because sometimes, the littlest ones just need a little extra. ❤️

So, this week, on my 61st birthday, I did something to commemorate the thing I most proud of in my life.

I have helped over 100 dogs, most of them seniors over the age of 10, live out their golden years with care, companionship, and lots of love.

And I have held them close while they crossed the rainbow bridge.
