From Pastor Eli’s message this past Sunday.
Peter thought nothing would stop him from following Jesus. But on the night Jesus was arrested, he denied knowing Him three times.
Standing near a fire, Peter did what he never thought he would do. Then Jesus turned and looked at him. Peter remembered His words, went outside, and wept bitterly. (Luke 22:54–62)
But that wasn’t where the story ended.
After the resurrection, Peter and the other disciples went fishing. When they came ashore, Jesus was waiting with breakfast beside another fire. (John 21:9)
The first fire was where Peter denied Him. The second was where Jesus restored him.
Three times Jesus asked, “Do you love me?” Each time, He gave Peter a responsibility: care for My sheep. Then He said, “Follow me.” (John 21:15–19)
Jesus knew what Peter had done. And He still called him.
Our God is a God of second chances.
Peter’s story reminds us that Jesus welcomes us back when we turn to Him. His forgiveness is real and He’s calling you again.
