Next Wednesday, join us for a fun-filled Pokémon Trading Card Game event hosted in partnership with the Palm Desert Library!

Whether you're new to the game or already collecting and battling, come learn how to play, meet other trainers, and trade cards in a welcoming and inclusive environment.

At just 7 years old, Xaria has already shown incredible strength and resilience. After undergoing tumor resection surgery and chemotherapy, she continues to face neurological challenges that affect her growth, vision, and motor skills.

When Xaria’s father reached out to Variety in hopes of helping his daughter experience the joy and freedom of riding a bike, our community stepped in.

Thanks to the generosity of our supporters, Xaria received her very first adaptive bicycle—giving her the opportunity to build confidence, gain independence, and create special memories with her two older brothers, who are excited to include her on family bike rides.

Moments like these are possible because of you. ❤️🚲

Variety is proud to partner with the IRC and DDS to support the launch of the Parent Coalition Initiative of Coachella Valley 💙

This initiative is dedicated to empowering monolingual Spanish-speaking families through education, resources, advocacy, and meaningful community connection. 🤝

📍 Join us next Tuesday, June 9 at our office in Palm Desert for an in-person gathering designed to create a welcoming space for families to share experiences, build connections, and improve access to services throughout our community.

Together, we’re working toward greater equity and support for the families who need it most. 🌟

We’re excited to welcome Natsuko to the Variety Children’s Charity of the Desert team as our new intern, serving as Assistant to the Executive Director! 🌟

A recent graduate of Pepperdine University with a degree in Business Administration, Natsuko brings a global perspective shaped by her upbringing in Tokyo and time spent living in Boston and California 🌍. She is passionate about strategy and finance, and has a strong ability to simplify complex challenges into practical solutions.

We look forward to the insight, energy, and collaborative spirit she brings as she grows alongside our team and community. Welcome aboard, Natsuko! 🙌✨

Freedom, confidence, and joy on wheels 🚲💙

Zoey and Gael are now experiencing the simple magic of riding a bike—something every child deserves. With adaptive bicycles tailored to their needs, Zoey is building strength and joining in outdoor adventures, while Gael is gaining confidence and discovering the joy of play in a whole new way.

Through our Freedom Program, we’re proud to help children of all abilities move, explore, and feel included—one ride at a time.

✨TOMORROW ✨is Developmental Screening Day at Variety! 💙

Families across the Coachella Valley are invited to join us on the first Wednesday of every month from 9:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. at our Palm Desert office.

We offer developmental screenings for children ages 0–5 and autism screenings (M-CHAT) for children 16–30 months— because early support makes a lasting
difference.

Services are available in English and Spanish, and families can participate in person or online.

Every family receives screening results, diapers, a toy, helpful community resources — and FREE food bags through FIND Food Bank! 🧸🍼🍎
