Good evening, and first, thank you for the incredible support, shares, tags, prayers, and offers to help this sweet girl. Thank you especially to those who reached out privately with kindness and understood that rescue does not happen with the snap of a finger.
To those who criticized us or made accusations, I invite you to follow our rescue, learn who we are, and see what rescue actually looks like behind the scenes.
I want to make something very clear:
We have not asked for one single cent for this girl, nor have we received one dollar for her.
Yet our rescue has been called a scam, accused of being fake, and publicly criticized as though we were using her situation to collect money.
Loving PAWSabilities, Inc. is a small, volunteer-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit animal rescue. We do not get paid. We have families, jobs, responsibilities, and lives outside of rescue. We dedicate countless hours to these animals, and when donations aren't there, we often pay their bills out of our own pockets.
And this girl was not the only doggy who needed us.
Between last night and today alone, we stepped up for three medical cases, while continuing to care for the animals already in our rescue.
At the same time, there were wonderful volunteers and caring people working behind the scenes with us for this girl—making calls, asking for favors, arranging transportation and veterinary care, and helping us put together a safe plan to get her off the streets.
Rescue takes a village, and that takes time.
Comments like “Why aren't you doing something?” and “Why aren't you answering?” do not make rescue happen faster. We cannot stop the actual rescue work to respond to every comment, message, or accusation. Our priority has to be the animals, not our phones.
We understand people were worried about her. We were worried too—that is why we stepped up. But concern for an animal does not justify bullying, shaming, or publicly discrediting the people trying to help.
Words have consequences.
It takes years for a small rescue to build trust and a good reputation. Calling a legitimate rescue a “scam” or “fake” without knowing the facts can discourage donors, fosters, adopters, and supporters—and ultimately hurt the next animal who will depend on that rescue for help.
To those who were quick to criticize and demand immediate action, we sincerely hope you will still be here when her veterinary bills arrive and we actually ask our community for help. We hope the same passion shown in demanding her rescue will be shown in helping us provide the medical care she needs.
And perhaps the saddest part of all of this is that instead of being able to make a post celebrating that this girl is finally safe, we have had to spend our time writing a post defending our rescue against accusations that were never true. That is incredibly disappointing and takes the focus away from what this should have been about all along—celebrating that another life was saved.
To everyone who chose kindness, patience, and understanding—and to everyone who helped behind the scenes to make this rescue happen—thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
Most importantly, this sweet girl is SAFE. She is off the streets, has been seen by a veterinarian, and is receiving the care she deserves.
She still has a long road ahead, and we will be there for her every step of the way.
That was always the goal—to get her safe and give her the chance she deserves. ❤️🐾
