🎒📚 Community Backpack Giveaway This Saturday! 📚🎒

Little Growers, Inc. is excited to share this wonderful opportunity from our friends at ACE World Foundation!

Join them for their 2nd Annual Back-to-School Backpack Giveaway on Saturday, July 25, from 12:00–3:00 PM at Eddie Lee Taylor Senior Complex (3316 Monroe St., Melbourne).

Families can enjoy:
🎒 Free backpacks & school supplies (while supplies last)
🎉 Music, games, giveaways, and family fun

This event is FREE for K–12 students and is first come, first served.

💚 Don’t forget to stop by and say hello to our Little Growers team! Our youth and volunteers will be there lending a helping hand and supporting this amazing community event.

What an incredible week of hands-on learning!

During Week 5 of Little Growers, Inc.’s Summer Earn & Learn Program, our students worked alongside scientists and educators from Florida Tech (FIT) and Black In Marine Science (BIMS) to explore the Indian River Lagoon and discover why protecting our local ecosystems matters.

Throughout the week, students participated in:

🦪 Oyster Reef Examination at FIT’s Mertens Anchorage
🐟 Lagoon Species Identification & Field Science
🧬 eDNA Collection & Analysis
🔬 Phytoplankton Collection & Analysis
🏡 A special tour of the Marine Resources Council’s Lagoon House with Dr. Laura Wilson

These experiences gave our students the opportunity to use real scientific equipment, collect environmental data, identify native species, and learn directly from professionals working to protect one of Florida’s most important estuaries.

Programs like this inspire curiosity, build confidence, and introduce young people to careers in environmental science, conservation, and marine biology.

A heartfelt thank you to our outstanding partners at Florida Tech, Black In Marine Science (BIMS), and the Marine Resources Council for helping make these unforgettable learning experiences possible.

🌱💚 More photos from this past Saturday's Jackson Street Food Forest Planting! 💚🌱

What a beautiful day of community in action.

Volunteers of all ages came together to plant trees, spread mulch, tend our gardens, and care for this special community space. From thriving raised beds and pollinator gardens to smiling faces and helping hands, every moment was a reminder that real change happens when neighbors show up for one another.

A special thank you to our Summer Earn & Learn students, who continue to work hard all summer to serve their community and protect the Indian River Lagoon. Your leadership and dedication inspire us every day.

To everyone who joined us, supported us, and continues to care for the Jackson Street Food Forest: thank you. It is truly a joy to build community with you.

🌱💚 Our community showed up today at the Jackson Street Food Forest!

Thank you to every volunteer who came out to plant, build, and grow with Little Growers Inc. Special thanks to our incredible Summer Earn & Learn students who are working hard all summer to serve our community and protect the Indian River Lagoon.

We’re also grateful to our neighbors and friends who care for this space even when we aren’t there. And a huge thank you to Mr. Kevin Small for firing up the grill and bringing ice and drinks to keep everyone fed and hydrated!

From toddlers with mulch shovels to community leaders and volunteers of all ages, today was a beautiful reminder that real change happens when people come together.

You all make such a difference in the work we’re doing and in the community we love. It is truly a joy to do community with you.
