Future caregivers in the making!

Last week, our Human Resources Director, Sybil Aumick, visited Winfield Elementary School in Corning for Career Day, where she spent time with four classes of first and second graders sharing what it means to care for others through hospice.
⬇️
Students learned important caregiving skills through hands-on activities and games. A lively round of "Simon Says" helped teach the importance of listening, following directions, and being honest—qualities that are essential when caring for patients and families. The winners then moved on to learn about proper handwashing, germ control, and safe glove removal before competing in the "Doff Off" challenge!

Thank you to Winfield Elementary for inviting us to inspire young minds and introduce students to the many ways people can make a difference through compassionate care 💙💛🧡

Happy 79th Birthday, John! 🎉

Today, our hospice patient John celebrated his birthday with members of his CareFirstNY care team, who stopped by with balloons, birthday wishes, and a homemade carrot cake baked from scratch by Flex RN Robin 🎂🎈💙

One of the most meaningful parts of hospice care is the relationships that grow along the way. Our team members often become like extended family, celebrating special moments and caring for patients as they would their own loved ones.

If you or a loved one need us, we're here. Reach out and we can help—(607) 962-3100.

Please join us in wishing John a very happy 79th birthday in the comments below ⬇️

A huge thank you to the team from First Heritage Federal Credit Union for spending their Day of Action with us today through the United Way of the Southern Tier 💛

Despite the scorching temperatures, this hardworking group rolled up their sleeves and transformed the entrance to our building. From digging out stones and pulling weeds to mulching, planting shrubs, and filling flower pots, their efforts created a beautiful and welcoming entry for our patients, families, visitors, volunteers, and staff.

Thank you for helping make our campus a little brighter!

A wonderful evening at the Fund for Women of the Southern Tier, Inc.’s annual Inspire dinner ✨

As a healthcare organization, we’re reminded every day that women are often at the heart of caregiving—supporting loved ones through illness, aging, grief, and life’s many challenges. Their compassion and resilience help strengthen families and communities in our region 💪

Thank you to the Fund for Women crew and guest speaker Tracy Chamberlain Higginbotham for an inspiring evening celebrating the amazing impact women make every day!

A special thank you to our hospice patient, Bertha, who lovingly made handmade rice bags for fellow hospice patients 💛

These simple gifts provide warmth and comfort, but even more importantly, they carry the care and compassion of someone who understands the value of small comforts during difficult times.

Thank you, Bertha, for sharing your talent and heart with others!

This week, our Community Engagement team had the opportunity to spend time volunteering at The Vincent House, one of our valued partner hospice homes.

The team rolled up their sleeves to clean and organize the supply closet, helping make it easier for staff and volunteers to access the items patients and families need during their stay 💪

If you'd like to join us in supporting their mission, consider purchasing an item from their wish lists. These donations help ensure patients and families have access to essential supplies and comforting touches during a difficult time.

This past Saturday, we honored loved ones who received hospice care through CareFirstNY at the 11th Annual Hospice Memorial Butterfly Release 🦋

As we shared a meaningful time of reflection, remembrance, and connection, native butterflies took flight into our memorial garden reminding us that love and memories endure.

We are grateful to all who allowed us to be a part of their loved one’s journey and who gathered with us to celebrate this special tradition 💙
