🕊️ Homelessness Is the Canary in the Mine

Homelessness isn’t just a crisis.
It’s a warning.

It’s the canary in the mine — the prophetic call that tells us something is radically wrong in our society when even one person is forced to sleep on the streets.

When someone has no safe place to rest…
when survival becomes a nightly battle…
when human beings are left outside in the cold, unseen and unheard…
that is the moment we should all stop and ask ourselves:
How did we let it get this far?

At The Sub Zero Mission, we refuse to look away.
We refuse to accept this as “normal.”
We refuse to let our neighbors freeze, suffer, or disappear into the margins.

Every coat, every tent, every pair of boots, every warming item we deliver is more than a supply — it’s a message:
You matter. Your life matters. We see you. We’re fighting for you.

Homelessness is the warning.
Compassion is the response.
Action is the answer.

We’re incredibly grateful to the Monreal family and every sponsor, donor, golfer, and volunteer who made the Jeff Monreal Funeral Home Charity Golf Outing such a tremendous success.

Because of the generosity of this community, lives will be impacted far beyond the golf course. Every dollar raised helps The Sub Zero Mission provide warming items, outreach, and support to those experiencing homelessness, with a special focus on veterans. Our mission remains simple: Nobody Should Freeze to Death in America.

When a veteran falls on hard times, they deserve more than sympathy — they deserve a path back to stability, dignity, and purpose.

The Homeless Veteran Re‑Empowerment Program (HVRP) stands in that gap.
We help veterans rebuild their lives, restore their confidence, and reclaim their tomorrow.

What HVRP provides:
• Transportation to appointments, interviews, and essential services
• Help securing IDs and vital documents
• Temporary employment opportunities
• Daily structure, accountability, and goal‑setting
• Peer support from those who’ve walked the same road
• Connection to VA and community resources
• Weekly follow‑ups to keep progress moving
