🌞📚Today was the start of HOLA's summer reading program. There were 42 children in attendance and the theme was world cultures. Thank you HOLA staff for putting this program together, and thank you to the tutors! The kids made passports, stamped with the places they want to visit, and took books home to help their imaginations take flight. They were given little suitcases of treats for their trip! Hopefully they'll return for next week's class when we visit outer space, from the comfort and safety of the HOLA Community Center! 🚀🌌

Our kitchen crew is happiest when they get to serve food to the public. Painesville City Councilman Nick Augustine came by and was chatting with the members of the local band Gimmie Sugar, who are regulars. Lead singer Bob Hughes scored extra points for showing up wearing a vintage HOLA t-shirt 👌

Community leader, NAACP board member and longtime friend of HOLA, the Rev. Gerard Mirbel stopped by for breakfast today. He suprised us with stories from his youth in his native Haiti, how he met the Mexican icons Miguel Aceves Mejía and Antonio Aguilar when they performed there in the 1960s! Thank you for all you do, Rev. Mirbel.

🌞 Good morning! HOLA is serving breakfast and lunch today until 1:30 p.m. Today's special includes crispy crunchy chimichangas ($5) with your choice of shredded beef or chicken. Served with a tomato and chile chiltepin salsa (spicy) on the side and slaw. New also on today's menu are chicken chipotle tamales. The green chile chicken are almost sold out.
