The Mills County Conservation Board manages over 1,700 acres between 9 sites. Located in the Loess Hills of southwestern Iowa, these sites vary from wildlife management areas, forests, lakes, green spaces and general parks. Included in those areas is a 25 mile stretch of the Wabash Trace Nature Trail, a multi-use recreational trail; and the recently created 906 acre Glenwood Archaeological State Preserve.

Registration is now open for Pedal for the Prairie!

Glenwood Archaeological State Preserve - Glenwood, Iowa

The purpose of this community bike ride is to educate about our Loess Hills prairie heritage and feature a beautiful restored prairie in Mills County at the Archeological State Preserve. Participants will help tag migrating monarchs, help restore habitat by tossing milkweed and native nectar flower seedballs, and also help collect precious prairie seed. In addition to registration, we're also seeking sponsorships.
