The Interfaith Center at Miami University has been dedicated to bringing people together across difference to focus on shared values for social change. We’ve done this through our programming and our support for initiatives and projects in Oxford and around the world. We want to take the opportunity to expand our support for our local community at a time when our communities are experiencing the challenges of affordability and economic stability.

With support from the Center’s Board, The Interfaith Center will be starting a mutual aid program in Southwestern Ohio in 2027. This fund will provide support for individuals experiencing disruptions like housing and food insecurity, health and safety concerns, and other issues that impact peoples’ livelihoods. In an effort to make this fund sustainable, we are asking YOU, our amazing supporters and donors, to help us raise additional funds to maximize the impact of this fund for socioeconomically impacted communities in the city of Oxford and Butler County.

The Mutual Aid fund will provide cash assistance and other resources to alleviate the effects of that which impact the needs and lives of students, faculty, staff, and community members on and off campus.

We are hoping to launch the fund in Spring 2027 with the goal to match $14,000 that we’ve secured for the fund so far. Imagine the possibilities of impact if we can double or triple this fund when it launches! This could change the way we are able to help folks with daily needs or emergencies through a fund that can sustain itself for years to come.

We rely deeply on your generosity to make this program an enduring success. Please donate today and please write that you’re donating to support the Mutual Fund in the comments of the donation: https://www.paypal.com/ncp/payment/8G5W8F5M7PRLA

Our Executive Director will be presenting during Seminar 2 of the RExCHANGE by Culham St Gabriel's on 9 October at 3:15pm UK time (10:15am Eastern). This talk, "Who Gets to Speak? Representation, Coloniality and Disruptive Praxis in (Inter)religious Education" considers the Faith and Belief Forum's (FBF) interfaith storytelling model as an alternative to traditional forms of interreligious dialogue (IRD) in contemporary Britain. It analyses how storytelling may reconfigure representation, voice, and participation, (pre)evaluating its potential and limits for fostering students' plural, lived understandings of religious difference.
