The Sitka Center is located in view of the Pacific Ocean, under Cascade Head and at the edge of the Salmon River estuary. Spiraling out from the Sitka Center’s campus is an array of protected and heart-wrenchingly beautiful lands, including a United Nations Biosphere Reserve and the only Scenic Research Area in the world. We are literally a center at the edge – a place where land, freshwater, saltwater, and sky meet, and people and ideas converge, commingle, and depart transformed.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED IN PORTLAND!

The Sitka Art Invitational relies on volunteers for its success. Volunteers enjoy the bustling energy of the exhibit, the excitement of viewing the art and the satisfaction of helping support the community of regional artists. Spend time before or after your shift—see the show, connect with the Sitka community, listen to live music and meet artists on hand for "Artist Conversations."

Volunteers make visitors welcome and facilitate art sales. We are seeking more volunteer greeters, docents and cashiers for the exhibit (Friday, Saturday, or Sunday). It's fun! No expertise is required. We train you on the spot and a Sitka staff member will be there to help the whole time. Shifts are typically four hours long. Please contact Exhibits Coordinator [email protected] to learn about volunteer opportunities, sign up, or ask questions. Thank you, volunteers!
