Winnebago Area Literacy Council

Winnebago Area Literacy Council We strengthen our diverse community by developing and delivering free, learner-centered literacy programs for adults and their families.

Our page demonstrates how we provide our diverse learners with a wide variety of literacy programs. We share learner accomplishments and stories to spread awareness about diversity, how low literacy skills perpetuate the cycle of poverty, and how courageous our learners are. We display pictures and tell uplifting stories about passionate volunteers supported by professional staff guidance and agen

cy resources. We are innovative, creative, and compassionate individuals committed to strengthen our community by offering free literacy programs to adults and their families.

Last week, we had two inspiring presenters from Reach Counseling, MaryCarmen Fabian and Nora Gonzalez, who informed us about Human & Labor Trafficking 101!

They both did an amazing job explaining how we can identify human and labor trafficking, addressing common myths and misconceptions, sharing important statistics, and outlining the steps to take in case trafficking is suspected.

Thank you, Nora and MaryCarmen, for providing valuable insight on this vital subject, and thank you to everyone who was able to join us.

Don't forget, our Immigration Learning Circles take place every month! Be sure to mark your calendars for our next ILC on September 15, with speaker Micah Troedel!
