Meet this week's Good Neighbor: Patricia!

Patricia is one of our wonderful AARP volunteers who plays a key role in answering our phones and helping callers understand who to speak with, where to find financial assistance, or what steps to take to receive help.

For many of our clients, Patricia is one of their first interactions with the Christian Service Center. Her positive and encouraging presence helps make that first connection a welcoming one, and we are so grateful for all that she does!

Thank you, Patricia, for being a Good Neighbor!

Interested in making a difference in your community? We are always looking for volunteers! Email us at [email protected] to get involved.

Calling all book lovers! 📚

We are in need of donated books to help build our on-campus library!

Getting lost in a good book is a small joy that everyone deserves a chance to experience. We want to give our clients a variety of books to choose from, whether they’re looking for a new story, something to learn, or simply a quiet way to spend some time.

We are looking for books at a 5th-grade reading level and up, across a variety of genres and topics.

Have books ready for a new home? We’d love to have them!

📍 Please drop off donations at 808 W. Central Blvd., Suite One.

Thank you for helping us fill our shelves!

More keys. More homes. More hope. 🔑

We had a goal of housing 801 people this year, and we've done it! Every key on this wall represents a life changed through stable housing—a milestone made possible by our programs, our team, and the supporters who helped along the way.

Today, we are celebrating 812 neighbors who now have a place to call home. But we aren't stopping here, because the goal is always home.

Help us keep the momentum going. Together, we can continue opening doors and creating pathways to stable housing.

Join us in celebrating this incredible milestone!

Meet this week's Good Neighbor: Kayrel from the Barber Academy of Orlando!

The Barber Academy of Orlando comes out to our campus every Tuesday to provide free haircuts for our clients and neighbors in the community. This partnership is a win-win for all! Barber Academy students get valuable hands-on experience while our clients receive great haircuts that bring confidence and conversation.

Kayrel has been a part of the Academy for a few months now and is enjoying the experience! He especially enjoys connecting with our clients on Tuesdays and learning more about them and their stories.

We are grateful to Kayrel and the Barber Academy for their wonderful partnership and for helping our clients feel confident and cared for.

Thank you for being Good Neighbors!

Housing First.

That isn't just a catchphrase; it's a person-first way of operating. It's the approach we use here at the Christian Service Center, and Carla Cox is here to explain what exactly Housing First means and why it matters.

Housing First starts with a simple idea: stable housing provides the foundation people need to address other challenges and move forward. Rather than requiring someone to overcome barriers before accessing housing, the priority is helping them get housed first and providing support from there.

Our mission isn't just to end homelessness; it's also to inspire community action. That's why we offer our Homelessness 101 series to community members who want to learn more about homelessness, Housing First, and the work happening in our community. Our team members are passionate leaders in the field who are available to share their knowledge, answer questions, and speak with community groups.

Interested in learning more or hosting a speaker? Reach out to our team!

A community where no one sleeps outside is the vision, and Housing First is an important part of how we work toward it.

Every neighbor has a story. 💙

Oneseas, a fifth-grade teacher, wasn't sure where to turn when she reached out to Christian Service Center for assistance. As someone who is always helping her family and friends, asking for help herself was unfamiliar.

Through Christian Service Center's rental assistance program, Oneseas received the support she needed to remain stably housed, heal and continue showing up as her best self.

As an educator, Oneseas understands the importance of having a safe and stable place to call home, not only for herself, but for her students as well. When housing is uncertain, learning, growth, and opportunity can all be put on hold.

At Christian Service Center, we work alongside our neighbors and community partners to create housing solutions that help individuals and families maintain stability and build brighter futures.

Thank you, Oneseas, for trusting us with your story—and thank you for the difference you make every day in the lives of your students.

Meet this week's Good Neighbor: The HOPE Team

Ellease, a Street Outreach Specialist with the HOPE Team, shared what being a Good Neighbor means to her. The HOPE Team is a valued partner on our campus, providing direct outreach, housing care coordination, and housing case management to help our neighbors on their journey toward stable housing.

Ellease and the entire HOPE Team bring positive energy and compassion to our campus every day, and we are grateful for the difference they make in the lives of our clients.

Thank you, HOPE Team, for being such wonderful Good Neighbors to our community!
