We are heartbroken to share that a 6-year-old male Florida panther was killed by a vehicle strike in Collier County 💔

This marks 12 panther deaths so far in 2026.

Our friend Clyde Butcher once said it best - the panther can take care of itself. We need to protect the Florida panther's home, and they'll do the rest.

𝗟𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝘀𝘄𝗲𝗿.

With fewer than 200 Florida panthers left in the wild, every loss is a devastating blow, and every acre of habitat counts.

We've come through another hurricane as we always do - 𝘁𝗼𝗴𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 🫶

Floridians are a resilient bunch, and our wildlife are no exception. Native folklore says that white ibises are the last birds to leave before a storm and the first to return - symbols of strength, recovery, and belief in the resiliency of our shared home.

To our friends in affected areas, our thoughts are with you. We sure are lucky to call this place - and each other - 𝙝𝙤𝙢𝙚.

𝙃𝙪𝙧𝙧𝙞𝙘𝙖𝙣𝙚 𝙄𝙨𝙖𝙞𝙖𝙨 is on its way toward the Panhandle 🌀

It's the first Atlantic hurricane of the season and will make landfall tonight as a strong storm. Luckily, our natural places work around the clock to defend us Floridians.

Places like the Mashes Sands saltwater marshes, pictured here, are able to absorb millions of gallons of rain & flood water, making them vital for storm buffering.

Protecting our wild places makes home a little safer for all of us. Stay strong & safe, Florida!

"Habitat" is just a fancy word for 𝙝𝙤𝙢𝙚. And ours is pretty dang special 💚

Across our state are magical habitats with plant and animal life you'll find nowhere else on Earth.

To some, this photo may look like a whole bunch of grass. But we know it's an Everglades sawgrass prairie teeming with life! White-tailed deer bound through the plain, snail kites soar across the horizon, and alligators hide in the tall grass.

We all need a habitat - a 𝘩𝘰𝘮𝘦 - to call our own. By protecting habitat like this, we're ensuring that all of us have places to thrive for generations to come.

Pine lilies - striking, delicate, state-listed threatened flowers - are putting on a show right now at our D Ranch Preserve in Volusia County! Our friends & volunteer photographers Jaye and Ross recently headed into the preserve to show them in their natural habitat, but the adventure meant more than a few shutter clicks.
