The House has just passed the deceptively titled “Pet and Livestock Protection Act” — an extreme measure that, if passed by the Senate, would permanently strip Gray Wolves of Endangered Species Act protections and shut the door on judicial review.
This vote contradicts decades of peer-reviewed science and hands wolf management over to states with well-documented records of harsh, lethal policies. Wolves are still absent from most of their historical habitat. Fragmented populations, genetic isolation, and aggressive kill quotas are already jeopardizing their long-term survival.
Advancing this bill would open the floodgates to even more widespread killing of wolves, driving already vulnerable populations closer to collapse.
The Senate is next — call the U.S. Capitol Switchboard at (202) 224-3121. Ask to be connected to your Senators and urge them to oppose any anti-wolf legislation.
Then, speak up by calling for a strong national wolf recovery plan and submitting comments against any attempts to weaken the Endangered Species Act.🐺🐾🐺🐾
