Not long ago, Providence Farm Collective’s Market Stand was located underneath our community tent behind the old barn on Burton Road. What may have looked like charming simplicity from the outside was, in reality, a vital community space with limited weather protection and tight quarters. Yet, every Monday, the tent became our farm market—welcoming CSA members and neighbors to pick up fresh produce, connect with one another, and support local agriculture. It also served as a shared lunch space, where staff, farmers, and community members gathered to eat together and exchange stories.
As a grassroots organization, PFC has grown because our Western New York community believes in this work and stands behind it, even when support at the government level is uncertain. Looking back at these photos reminds us all how much can be achieved when we come together to rally around a shared vision.
We began with just a few dozen CSA members. Today, we serve more than 100 members and have expanded offerings to include a fruit share. Our new farm store in the barn has also created space to feature more products from local farms, allowing us to offer a wider selection while strengthening our regional food system by supporting Western New York farmers.
This growth reflects more than a new building. It reflects the commitment, resilience, and collective investment of a community rooted in the shared belief of fresh food access for all our neighbors and opportunity for beginning farmers.
Here’s to humble beginnings, grassroots growth, and all that is still possible. 🌱📈
