It has come to our attention that a woman from Cope is in need of a place to live. She is totally disabled and needs some help finding a place she can afford. She is being evicted from the home she has lived in for 16 years. If anyone knows of a place in Cope, please leave a message and we will relay your contact information to her. Thanks in advance for your help.

Our club is proud to support SC School for the Deaf and Blind. Pictured are Sam Hook, Executive Director of the SCSDB Foundation and Jolene Madison, President of SCSDB. They are standing beside a large metal sculpture shaped like the American Sign Language “I love you” hand sign. The sculpture is made from overlapping metal hand shapes and is mounted on a pedestal with a plaque that reads “I LOVE YOU.” The plaque explains that the sculpture represents the ASL sign for “I love you” and was created by students at the South Carolina School for the Deaf and the Blind along with citizens of South Carolina.

When our club hears a call for help, we do everything we can to step up and fill the need! When MUSC Hollings Cancer Clinic put out an emergency plea for candy for their patients, we went to work. Today, Lion Lee Ashe dropped off almost 30 pounds of candy from our club to help them in the short term until our members collect even more candy. Lions are always ready to SERVE!

Tonight, our Lions were blessed to have Jolene Madison, President of the SC School for the Deaf and the Blind, as our guest speaker. She was such an AMAZING speaker that we all forgot to grab a picture!! Mrs. Madison shared all the exciting opportunities that are available to SC students who have a visual or auditory impairment. Her passion about inclusive education was very evident! Our club enjoyed her presentation very much and many are looking forward to taking a “field trip” to the school to see all of the wonderful things that happen there. We also learned that any child in SC with a visual or auditory impairment can apply to SCSDB. We are attaching contact information below for those who may want to inquire.
