The Youth Entrepreneur Author Program - YEAP program announces our pre-teen book club Jr. Beta Reader program!

Authors that write children's book may submit their pdfs, audio or video books with a small $25 fee and our book club students will read, discuss and write a one-paragraph review, to submit to you! This program not only encourages literacy among pre-teens, but it accepts their honest opinion on the book, that may be helpful to the author.

This is a quick overview video that tells you more about the program. Yes, we do have space remining for students to enroll so send an email to [email protected] with your student's name, age, grade and city & state. Virtual classes take place Tuesday mornings at 11am and Friday evenings at 8 pm EST.

During our first YEAP session, we held an ice-breaker project. Participants watched two videos from the StreamYard backstage area, and they commented on them. The goal of the video was to sell an item, service or event. The students were asked what they liked and did not like about the video. Our goal was to see what "sells" the students so when the time comes, we can lead them to create commercials that will "sell" their books to their peers.

Their comments are below:

- The video is very long. I love the music but It took me too long to figure out what the commercial was for. Make them shorter.

- I loved the music at first because it made me dance, but I had no idea what the commercial was about. I didn't even look at the screen. When the commercial came on the next time, I saw the pictures on the screen but I really didn't want to read them because it was just too much. With the commercial telling me about the event, I started to pay closer attention.

- I don't want to watch anything that tells me to watch two minutes until the end. Nevermind!

- I need the music to tell me in the beginning what I am listening to or I ain't interested.

- Grab my attention in the beginning and I may listen to the end. I really don't want to watch the video 'cause I have too many open tabs. Just tell me what you want me to know.
