Last night our President and VP attended the annual Farm Bureau meeting where we received a donation to support our chapter this school year. We are grateful for everything Farm Bureau does to help students learn more about agriculture.

We partnered with Ms. Snells photography class today so they could come out to the polinator garden and our raised beds to practice their photo skills.

NEW VID -> The FFA officer team spend everyday last week planning and preparing for the year ahead. Theyve got a great line up for our members to enjoy. On Friday night, we decided to cut loose after all our hard work and do some team bonding at Main Event!

Great night at the Farm Bureau Speech Contest. Oakleaf came with 14 contestants and had 3 members make it to the final 4.
1st place - Aiden Kile
3rd place - Karla Null
4th place - Emma White

Emery took Rosie on the road to the Rumble at the Line show in Callahan. Together they brought home 4th place in senior showmanship and 3rd place in Senior Nigerian does class.

Oakleaf FFA took an EF tour to Costa Rica. We toured a coffee farm, cocoa farm, and pineapple farm. We took a dance class, hiked a volcano, explored 2 national parks, went wildlife viewing from aerial trams, and explored various markets. We toured an organic farm and helped prepare lunch in a cooking class. At the pineapple farm we drank fresh pineapple juice and homemade VIRGIN Pina coladas. We also went to a local fruit vendor who prepared for us a tropical fruit tasting. On our last night we went to the top of the mountain that overlooks San Jose for dinner and a cultural dance presentation and the dancers pulled us up to join them.

Costa Rica Day 5 - We finished the day up at an organic pineapple farm. They welcomed us to their farm with fresh pineapple juice as we watched lots of toucans in the fruit trees. Then we rode the tractor down to the pineapple fields and viewed their growing process. They cut fresh pineapples for us to eat in the field. When we returned we made virgin Pina coladas with the pineapples and coconut trees from their farm. We also got a quick view of their peppercorn field. Their pineapples can be bought at Whole Foods.

Costa Rica Day 5 - We toured a cocoa farm. The presenters showed us the traditional method of turning cocoa into chocolate from the pod to drying to roasting to grinding to final product. We made a chocolate beverage and tasted several chocolates of varying percents.
