🖤❤️🎓🌟Celebrating the Next Generation of Philanthropists! 🌟🎓❤️🖤

Recently, Storybook Farm had the pleasure of attending the finale luncheon for the Summer 2026 Opelika High School Philanthropy 101 Class, hosted by the Samford-Cannon Foundation at the newly opened Nonprofit Center of East Alabama. ✨

The Philanthropy 101 Class is a unique three-week summer program for rising Opelika High School seniors that brings the principles of philanthropy to life. Through classroom learning and hands-on experiences, students gain a deeper understanding of community needs and develop the skills and passion to make a difference. ❤️🖤

We are especially proud to share that Storybook Farm was selected as the recipient of grants from three outstanding students.

Behind the Spines: June Check-In with Mrs. Christy Jones ✨📚

It's time for our June edition of Behind the Spines, where we catch up with Mrs. Christy Jones, Storybook Farm's Literacy and STEM Program Expert! Although she has only been with Storybook Farm for a month, Mrs. Christy has already hit the ground running and is helping bring exciting new ideas to life for our participants. 🌟

When we checked in with her this month, she shared that one of her major projects has been organizing and building out the new Storybook Farm Lending Library. Beginning this fall, participants will be able to check out books from Ribsy's Reading Room throughout the semester, giving them even more opportunities to build strong reading habits and a lifelong love of books. 🐶

And that's not all! Each participant will also receive a "Forever Book" to take home and keep. This initiative is a key part of Storybook Farm's commitment to helping children build their own home libraries and ensuring that books become treasured companions long after their visit to the Farm.

Hey, by the way, did you know that Storybook Farm distributes 2,500 books annually throughout our community?!

Recently, we had the pleasure of welcoming Brenda Hellums, Vice President and Private Banker, responsible for client development and relationship growth for Renasant Bank, to Storybook Farm!

Brenda spent time learning more about our mission and seeing firsthand the impact that Storybook Farm makes in the lives of thousands of children and families throughout our community. 🐴📚🌳

"Hi! My name is Caroline Heidt, and I am so excited to be a part of the Storybook team!

I grew up as a military brat living in many places, but I was blessed to graduate from Lee-Scott Academy in Auburn and then attend Auburn University. I have a
degree in hospitality management, and I am passionate about nonprofit organizations. After graduation, I moved abroad for a year and now have the wonderful chance to come back home to Opelika and Storybook Farm!

Storybook is a combination of many things that I love, with the perfect mix of peace and fun. I can't wait to support the important mission behind all that fun through my role as Development and Event Associate."

Our Summer 2026 interns are officially on the farm, and Storybook Farm simply doesn’t work without them!

These students show up every week to support programs, care for animals, and work alongside children as they try new things and realize what they’re capable of.

And the impact goes both ways. Our interns leave with far more than résumé lines; they gain real-world experience, a deeper understanding of service, and a front-row seat to what happens when education, compassion, and community come together.

Summer serves as Vice President/Relationship Manager with River Bank & Trust and has faithfully served on the Storybook Farm Board for 3 years. We are so incredibly grateful for her leadership, heart for service, and steadfast commitment to the children and families we serve.

We are thrilled (and honestly still a little speechless!) to share that the 18th Annual Storybook Farm Kentucky Derby Day raised an incredible $485,000, making this year’s Derby Day the MOST SUCCESSFUL in Storybook Farm history! 🏆

Because of your generosity, kindness, bidding, cheering, sponsoring, attending, tasting, celebrating, and believing in this mission… 4,500 children from 12 counties will continue to gain knowledge through literacy, STEM learning and benefit from time spent with horses, dogs, horticulture, and nature. A Big Thank You to the Cigar Festival of Dothan! 🎶

We are incredibly grateful to the Cigar Festival of Dothan for their wonderful contribution to Storybook Farm following their 2026 festival held this past April!

Each year, the Cigar Festival brings people together to celebrate premium ci**rs, great music, delicious food, and community — all while giving back and supporting meaningful causes across the region. We are deeply honored that Storybook Farm was selected as the chosen charity for the 2026 festival. 💚🐴
