This week, we've celebrated the vital role Community Health Workers play in connecting individuals to resources, advocating for healthier communities, and creating lasting change.

If you've been inspired by their stories and want to make a difference in your own community, we invite you to join our upcoming CHW Core Competency Training. We hope to see you this fall!

Great Rivers United Way joins millions around the world in remembering Dolly Parton – an extraordinary artist, philanthropist, and champion for children and literacy.

Dolly’s legacy will live on in so many ways, including Dolly Parton's Imagination Library, a program she created in 1995 in honor of her father, who never had the opportunity to learn to read and write. What began by sending books to children in her Tennessee hometown grew into a worldwide movement that has put millions of books into the hands of young readers, including hundreds of children right here in the Coulee Region.

For those looking for a way to honor Dolly, consider a gift to our local Imagination Library program. You may give online at www.greatriversunitedway.org/programs-partnerships/dolly-parton-imagination-library or www.imaginationlibrary.com in support of the program Dolly created and the lasting impact she leaves behind.

Thank you, Dolly, for the music, the stories, and for believing in the power of a book to change a child's life. 🦋

Today, hear from Great Rivers United Way staff member Jennifer Roberts, who has worked as and supervised Community Health Workers, and now coordinates our Nourishing Futures program.

Program participant Desi learned about Nourishing Futures from her CHW, Stephanie. Since 2025, 30 families have participated in Nourishing Futures – many of them thanks to CHW referrals.

Every connection, every conversation, and every act of support helps build healthier, stronger, and more connected communities.

Community Health is built through collaboration.

Today, we're recognizing the incredible partner and people that work alongside Great Rivers United Way to improve health outcomes and connect individuals with the resources they need. Together, we're creating stronger networks of care, reducing barriers, and ensuring more people have access to the support they deserve.

Thank you to our partners – Families First of Monroe County , Family & Children's Center, Family Promise of the Great Rivers, WI, Jackson County Department of Health & Human Services, La Crosse Area Family Y, and School District of Black River Falls – for your dedication to building healthier communities.
