January at Destiny Center was one of those “small moments, big impact” kind of months. 💛

First, a quick real-life update: this past week’s ice kept us off the roads, so we weren’t able to deliver like we normally do. Safety first, always. But we’re already looking forward to getting back to our seniors and bringing those familiar smiles (and lunches) right back to their doors.

Here are a few January highlights I don’t want you to miss:

📚 Did you know we have an author among our seniors?
Mr. Foster wrote a book. Our seniors are full of stories, talent, and wisdom… and we get the honor of showing up for them.

🙂 Did you know the smiling faces in these photos are our volunteers?
-These are the folks who make Destiny Delivers happen week after week. They’re the hands and hearts serving seniors right here in DeSoto County, and we’re incredibly grateful for their faithfulness and dedication.

🎂 We celebrated volunteer birthdays, too!
-Shoutout to Joanna and April . . . thank you for giving your time and treasure to serve others. You’re the kind of people who make a community feel like home.

🙏 We stepped into 2026 with vision and prayer
-As we transitioned into the new year, we met with our Interim Director, Ivory Hassell, to discuss and pray over Destiny Delivers.

We’re working to add more seniors to our delivery list and enhance overall wellbeing in real, practical ways. Big plans. Big heart. Volunteer-powered.

🎉🎉🎉 New year, fresh start… and for a lot of folks, a quiet nudge that says, “I want to give back this year.”

Plot twist: your resolution just found its people. 💛

One of the most meaningful ways to plug into our community is through Destiny Center . . . and right now, we’re looking for additional volunteers to help with Destiny Delivers, our meal delivery program for local seniors.

Last Tuesday, our Destiny Seniors were wrapped in love ❤️ A hearty Christmas meal, ham, thoughtful gifts, and sweet cupcakes made the day extra special. The cupcakes were generously donated by Cakes by Lauren, the ham was provided by Destiny Center, and the gifts came from the incredible Gifts of the Heart Organization 🎁🎄(This is their 4th year of blessing our seniors with gift cards and bags full of goodies . . . thank you to to Debbie Houck, Director and her merry community of elves!) ❤️🎄❤️

None of this happens without our volunteers, sponsors, and prayer partners. Truly. Y’all are the heartbeat of this mission. May you find a moment of peace this Christmas season and reflect on the many blessings God has gifted us all. 🙏✨

Last week we celebrated a woman who stepped into a moment that could have easily broken a nonprofit… and instead helped build something stronger than ever. 💛

When COVID turned the world upside down, Debbie House quietly, faithfully, and bravely stepped in as "Interim" Director of Destiny Center. What was meant to be “temporary” turned into over five years of pure, selfless leadership . . . all as a volunteer. 🙌 No spotlight. No fuss. Just a whole lot of heart.

Debbie didn’t just show up. She poured herself into this Destiny Center. She loved our seniors, families, and volunteers. She carried our mission. She went way beyond the job description and even recruited her own family to serve right alongside her. 🤍 Destiny Center has been shaped, strengthened, and protected by her hands, her prayers, and her servant heart.

We cannot thank her enough. We love her dearly. And while we’ll miss seeing her here every day, Debbie — you will always have an open door, a seat at the table, and a place in the heartbeat of Destiny Center. 🚪💛 Your joyful smile and selfless energy belong here forever.

Enjoy this well-earned season of rest and joy. 🌿 You’ve left a legacy that will ripple through this community for years to come.

🌟 Destiny Center Check-In! 🌟

Just sliding into your feed like, “Hey friends… your favorite little mobile community center is still out here doing the most.” 💛🚐

Last week was a whole symphony of kindness:

✨ Shawn prepped every single senior lunch before heading out on vacation . . . because that’s just who she is.
✨ Our volunteers braved freezing temps and steady rain to deliver warm meals (they looked like adorable, soggy superheroes).
✨ Several of our seniors celebrated birthdays . . . and you better believe they were celebrated well.🎂🎉
✨ We received a generous donation from CrossPointe Olive Branch and our hearts are basically glowing like a string of Christmas lights.

Destiny Center keeps serving because people like you keep showing up. 💛

Every packed meal, every delivered lunch, every shared mile, every donation . . . it all adds up to dignity, connection, and hope for the seniors right here in our community.

“I just wanted to thank you so much for making our Thanksgiving.
We found out there there were 22 of us you delivered to that would not have had a Thanksgiving dinner if it wasn’t for you folks… Thank you so much for having your hearts in the right place… We love you, have a blessed day.”

This message from one of the senior we serve says it all.

And it’s exactly why Destiny Center showed up early on Thanksgiving morning.

Our volunteers didn’t hit snooze . . . they rolled up their sleeves and made the day special for 22 seniors who would have gone without a Thanksgiving meal.

💛 Homemade feast: Samantha prepared dressing, casseroles, pies, rolls - a full Thanksgiving spread.
🔥 Perfect turkey: April’s husband, Stevie, deep-fried and carved the turkey, plus we added honey ham and cranberry sauce.
🚗 Every route covered: Volunteers delivered meals (and smiles), including a hospital visit, right in time for lunch.
🤝 Heart-to-heart moments: A warm hello at the door made all the difference.

Destiny Center is fully volunteer-powered . . . made up of people who love this community.

🚨 OLIVE BRANCH BUSINESSES, WE NEED YOU! 🚨

If you’ve ever wanted a simple, meaningful way to make a real impact right here in our community, Destiny Center is ready to partner with you. Yesterday proved exactly what can happen when local businesses team up for good. 💛

Destiny Center had an incredible day partnering with our friends at Domino's - Olive Branch, and we are still riding the wave of gratitude! 🍕✨

Jason Shifflett is a true hometown hero. He grew up right here in Olive Branch and has never stopped pouring back into this community. His leadership and heart for Desoto County show up again and again, and yesterday was no exception. Jason and his amazing Domino’s team provided 30 pizzas for our seniors' meals, and their management team didn’t just hand them over… they jumped in and helped deliver them alongside our Destiny Delivers volunteers. That’s community in action! 🙌

Our Destiny Delivers Team showed up big too, as always, and our director, Debbie House, continues to lead with compassion, heart, and a whole lot of hustle. This crew never stops finding ways to make someone’s day a little brighter. 💛🚗

Today wasn’t just a meal delivery. It was a chance to share Destiny Center’s mission, our commitment to serve with integrity, and the power of what happens when businesses and volunteers come together.
