❓Did You Know❓
🎷 More than 65 woodwind and brass musicians at OHS depend on school-owned instruments to participate in band.
🎺 Many of the instruments owned by the OASD were purchased in the 1960's and 1970's. They've been repaired MANY times over the decades, but they've reached their usable life and need to be replaced.
🥁The marching drumline instruments are specialized for marching and owned by OHS.
🎼Many of our school-owned instruments are aging, and some students don't have access to the quality instruments they need to learn and perform at their best. Whether it's a small contribution or a generous gift, every dollar helps bring music to life for our bands.

Congratulations to our OHS musicians who were nominated for Exemplary Performance Recognitions at the 2026 WSMA State Solo and Ensemble Festival! 🎉

🎼OHS musicians in band, choir, and orchestra received 15 nominations, and of those nominations, OHS students received 11 Exemplary Performance Recognition Awards, putting OHS in the top 3 high schools in the state for the number of awards.

Congratulations to Sarah Demar, an Oconomowoc High School senior, OHS Wind Symphony musician, and talented composer, who was selected to premiere her piece, "Dreams of Each Other," with the Milwaukee Youth Symphony Orchestra.

It's a well-deserved honor for such a talented musician and composer.

We’re proud to present two John Downey Creation Project world premiere compositions at our Grand Finale Concert on Sun, 5/3, at 1 pm, at the Bradley Symphony Center. ✨

Charlie Plante’s piece, "Metanoia," will be premiered by the Senior Symphony. Since beginning piano at age 3, Charlie has earned acclaim in numerous state, regional, and national competitions for his work, recently winning nationals for composition through the Music Teachers National Association and the National Federation of Music Clubs. Charlie is a percussionist and pianist in the Senior Symphony. 🎹

MYSO’s Metropolitan Symphony will premiere "Dreams of Each Other" for Orchestra by Sarah Demar. A high school senior, Sarah has been composing for four years. She is a member of the Senior Symphony and her school’s Wind Symphony and has studied French horn for the past eight years.📯

The John Downey Creation Project gives MYSO students the opportunity to compose their own piece with the guidance of a professional composer, honoring the legacy of the beloved Dr. John Downey, who served as MYSO’s Director of Music Theory and Composition for more than 40 years.♥️
