This Sunday's message from Pastor Bettye challenged us with a simple but powerful question:

Whose voice are you listening to?

Jesus' words aren't always easy to hear. He calls us to put God first, to live our faith courageously, and to trust Him even when following Him comes at a cost.

In a world full of distractions, opinions, and constant noise, Christ reminds us:

"Do not be afraid."

When life feels uncertain, God's voice still brings hope, peace, and direction. Even when we stumble, God's grace picks us up and calls us forward.

Pastor Bettye reminded us that being a disciple isn't about choosing only the comfortable parts of faith—it's about listening to all that Jesus teaches and allowing His words to shape how we live, love, and serve.

As you go through this week, take a few moments to quiet the noise and listen for the voice of Jesus. You may be surprised by where He leads.

"Wake up, sleeper, rise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you." — Ephesians 5:14

Thank you, Pastor Bettye, for reminding us that true courage begins with listening to Christ.

❤️ Join us this Sunday at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, where everyone is welcome, questions are encouraged, and God's love is shared with all.

Today we celebrate the men who have shown us what love looks like through their strength, compassion, wisdom, and faith.

To every father, grandfather, stepfather, mentor, and father figure --thank you for the countless ways you've encouraged, protected, and inspired those around you. Your love leaves a legacy that reaches far beyond today.

As we give thanks for the fathers in our lives, we also remember those who are missing a father, grieving one, longing to become one, or carrying the weight of difficult relationships. May God's love surround each heart with comfort and peace.

From all of us at St. Peter's, we wish you a blessed and joyful Father's Day. May God continue to strengthen you, guide you, and fill your life with His grace.

💙 Happy Father's Day! We are grateful for you.

This week’s readings speak into something we all wrestle with --how to tell the difference between what sounds right and what is actually life-giving, and how our daily choices quietly shape who we become.

Jeremiah reminds us that not every message that feels comforting is true, and Psalm 89 pulls us back to the steady ground of remembering who God has been, even when today feels uncertain. Romans gets very direct: the things we give ourselves over to don’t just influence us—they form us. And then Jesus, in Matthew, brings it down to something beautifully simple: faith is revealed in how we welcome others, even in the smallest gestures.

Put together, these passages feel like a gentle but honest question: what are we listening to, what are we becoming, and what are we passing along to others through the way we live?

Maybe faith isn’t only found in big moments or bold declarations, but in the quieter choices—what we trust, what we repeat, and how we treat the person right in front of us.

What part of that speaks to you most this week?

In a world that often feels divided, these simple words remind us what truly matters. Christ’s love wasn’t based on convenience, agreement, or perfection. He loved with compassion, grace, forgiveness, and sacrifice.

Today, let us choose kindness over criticism, encouragement over judgment, and understanding over anger. A gentle word, a listening ear, a helping hand, or a sincere prayer can become a powerful reflection of God’s love.

🔊 Help Us Amplify the Message!

From inspiring sermons and beautiful music to joyful laughter and heartfelt prayers, there's a lot worth hearing at St. Peter's! Unfortunately, our faithful sound system has been working overtime for decades and is beginning to sound a little more "vintage" than "vibrant."

We're raising funds for a new sound system so that every note sung, every scripture read, and every message shared can be heard loud and clear throughout our church. Think of it as giving God's Good News a microphone upgrade!

Whether you can give a little or a lot, every contribution helps us get closer to a sound system that will serve our congregation and community for years to come.

On Monday, June 8, the first shipment of equipment arrived, and we were excited to see installation begin. Watching this long-awaited project finally come to life was a wonderful milestone in our Sound System Campaign. While the system is not yet fully operational, significant progress is being made each day. We look forward to sharing updated photos soon—and perhaps even an audio sample—so you can experience the enhanced clarity and rich, vibrant sound that will fill our sanctuary for years to come.

As we continue serving God through worship, fellowship, outreach, and sharing the Good News with our congregation and community, it is essential that we have reliable communication and sound...

What does it mean to do the "heavy lifting" of faith?

In Sunday's sermon, Pastor Bettye reminded us that Jesus did the greatest heavy lifting of all through His sacrifice on the cross, bringing salvation and hope to the world. But our calling as disciples does not end there. Jesus sends us out, just as He sent the disciples, to share His love, compassion, and grace with others.

The work of discipleship isn't always easy. It means reaching beyond our comfort zones, caring for those in need, offering words of encouragement, extending forgiveness, inviting others into fellowship, and being living examples of Christ's love in our daily lives.

Through our baptism, God equips us for this work. We don't rely on our own strength, wisdom, or authority—we go forth with the strength and authority that come from Christ. We are called to help lift others up, sharing the good news that freely we have received God's love and freely we are called to give it away.

As we begin a new week, consider: Who might need a kind word, an invitation, a helping hand, or a reminder that God loves them? The harvest is plentiful, and Christ calls each of us to be part of His work in the world.

"Freely you have received; freely give." Matthew 10:8
