t on the success of the Humane Society of Marion County. The Humane Society of Marion County is a non-profit no-kill shelter dedicated to the care and protection of animals in Marion County, Florida. We’ve come a long way since our humble beginnings in 1964 with a couple of foster homes and a few good people with a burden to care for these helpless creatures. The first facility, built-in 1979 was located about 15 miles west of Ocala off Hwy 200 in the blackjack woods where very few people lived. Today, this area is very heavily populated and continues to grow.

🐾❤️ For Over 60 Years, We've Been Here for Animals Like Hogan ❤️🐾

For more than six decades, the Humane Society of Marion County has been committed to preventing cruelty, suffering, and homelessness in animals. After over 60 years of serving the animals of Marion County, our mission remains as strong as ever.

Every day, we meet animals in need—animals like Hogan.

When Hogan arrived at our shelter, he was in heartbreaking condition. The severe matting on his legs had become so tight that it created a cast-like restriction, making it difficult and painful for him to walk properly. In addition to his mobility challenges, Hogan also has eye issues.

But Hogan is one of the lucky ones. Hogan found us.

Here, he is receiving the medical attention, compassion, comfort, and love that every animal deserves. His journey to recovery is just beginning, and thanks to the support of our community, he has a chance at the happy, healthy future he deserves.
