There's a conversation happening in training units across North America, usually in hallways, not in official training staff or management meetings.

It sounds something like this:
"We train them on everything. They know the policy. But when something complicated happens in the field, something that doesn't fit the script, they hesitate. Or they get it wrong."

That gap between knowing and doing, between compliance and judgment, is exactly what Problem-Based Learning was built to address.

PSPBL has been working on this since 1999, when the COPS Office partnered with the Reno Police Department to study what it actually takes to develop officers who can think, not just follow instructions. That research shaped the Police Training Officer program. It shaped everything we've built since.

We've relaunched with three free professional development courses for police trainers, PTOs, and training unit staff. Each takes under 30 minutes. Built for working professionals, not students.
